Things were a bit different for myself as I am already working in the US! We were granted an Expedite on the I-130. We were working together in the US Virgin Islands and I was unable to get back to Canada to get my fingerprints taken so this prolonged our process. Now just impatiently waiting for an interview dates :) |

Embassy Review : |
Well I arrived in Montreal from Seattle, WA on December 5th. A little about my situation.. I am Canadian and for the past 2 years I have been legally residing in the US working on a Private Motor Yacht. I enter in and out of the US with a letter from my captain etc.. So all of my belongings etc are in the US!
So I arrive and take the shuttle bus 747 (which is 9.00) from the airport in Montreal. I had pre-booked the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth (BEAUTIFUL HOTEL) which is right downtown and the shuttle drops you off right infront of it. It is also just a 5-10min walk to the embassy.
I woke up on December 6th at 0600 and was at the Embassy by 0650. As I approached I seen a couple waiting outside and they were VJer's as well. It made the whole experience so nice to be able to be-friend someone and have the distraction of conversation while waiting. As we waited lots of other people arrived. There was soon a line of about 10-15 people behind me. I was so glad I arrived early and was 2nd in line... At about 0730 security came out and brought a sign that showed no cell phones, keys, bags, purses etc.. I am happy to have been a member of VJ as there were a few people that had to return there belongings back to their hotels etc and return to the embassy.. So we entered in through the doors and gave our appointment letter, LOOMIS confirmation, and passport to the lady inside the doors. We then walk through security. Go down the stairs and wait in chairs close to the elevator. At 0830 the elevator opens and we enter to the back as we know that those are the doors that open. Once on the 9th floor we take a left and go to the window to get a number. I got C-2.. Yippeee 2nd in line. Then you go to sit and wait. Within 5 mins my number was called. The gentleman was so nice and friendly. He asked me for additional documents such as passport photos, marriage cert, birth cert. He also takes my fingerprints. Then tells me to take a seat.
I wait another 5-10mins and get called to the next window down the hall a little. I am arrive at the window and I get the lady with the long dreads. She was very pleasant. She asked me why I was already residing in the US and asked for letters of employment which I had and also for my husband who works on the yacht with me.. Then the dreaded question is asked. She asks for our last 6 months pay stubs. I tell her I don't have them ( I was sooo over organized and brought everything possible with me and never even thought to bring these as I had our work contracts stating how much money we made). I panicked and told her I needed to get back to the States for work. She told me to get the pay stubs and email them. If anyone has emailed the Montreal Embassy you know that it takes a mininum of 15days for a reply. She gave me a orange piece of paper saying come back tomorrow in case I had to pick up my passport. I left with a denial letter!!!! I was sooo upset but I was also in survival mode. I had to get the documents and email them. So after talking to my bank in America. I received everything for the past 6 months and emailed it off to the Embassy. I thought it doesn't hurt to try and take the documents back to the Embassy in person. I arrived that same day as my interview and security made a call up to my interview officer and she said no I couldn't come up, security told her I emailed the docs and to keep a look out for them. I left feeling a little bit bummed out and unsure of what was going to happen. But I knew I had a appointment the next day at 3pm.
Decemeber 7th, 3pm I arrive back at the Embassy and security lets me through with my Orange Invite card. I go up the elevator and speak to a gentleman and tells me to take a seat. A few mins later the long dreaded hair lady comes out and calls me. She tells me she got my email but there were no attachments. I immediately tell her I have the originals with me and she takes them and tells me to have a seat.. I wait in panick for about 25 mins. Seemed like eternity! Finally a man calls me up to the window and gives me my passport back and my package to cross the border. I was in such disbelief at this point. I started jumping all around. Mind you I was the only person in the entire building other than the workers.. I told him to Thank the Officer from me.. I ran back to the Fairmont and called my Husband and told him the good news.. The next day I booked my flight back into the US. I am here now and everything is so awesome.. Thank you Visa Journey for making my Journey easy and as smooth as possible. My advice to everyone is bring your spouses pay stubs or bank deposits to your interview... |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
