On the day after receiving our joint AOS/EAD biometrics appointment letter, we walked in to the San Francisco ASC when it opened at eight and did the biometrics then rather than wait two weeks until the appointment date. The office wasn't busy (it was a Friday), the officers were very polite, and it went very quickly!
We tried to do a walk-in for the AOS interview as we had everything prepared by the time we received the invite letter, however we were told to come back at the actual appointment time, and that they would not reschedule the AOS interview for any date earlier than the original appointment.
Interview was relatively quick and painless - mostly just verifying the information on our application form and updating it with recent changes. |

Case status was never available on the USCIS website. We assume the approval date was the same as the EAD date because we received the combo card. |

Embassy Review : |
A month after DHL listed that the the Embassy had received the visa packet, we got tired of waiting and finally called the Embassy to check on the status of the application. The folks at the Embassy were a bit brusque on the phone, but within half an hour, they sent Lusine and interview invitation.
The interview itself went very smoothly as Lusine was well prepared (several copies of all the forms and documentation) and we had a well-documented relationship history as she had received a tourist visa to visit Nicholas through the same embassy ten months ago. The Consular Official thanked Lusine for making his job so easy because the decision to approve was so obvious!
We had actually bought the plane ticket before the interview which is risky because even if she was approved, they might not have her passport and visa packet prepared in time! It was appearing that this would be the case for us, so we contacted the Embassy via e-mail and phone to inform them of the urgency of our situation. They made an exception for Lusine by rushing the process and allowing her to collect her documents on Thursday afternoon. Perfect timing as that was the day before her flight! |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
