Interview was at 9:30. We arrived at 8:30. There was no line since we weren't there at the crack of dawn.
A very nice gentleman greeted us as well as a seated woman. The seated woman on the left asked for our Loomis confirmation page and my wife's passport, I think. I asked to go in with her and the security officer asked for my passport which I did not have or anticipate needing. I had my NEXUS card and he sighed heavily and let me in.
Went through security with no problems. You will have to take out everything, change included. Do NOT bring anything except your paperwork. No cell phones. They will confiscate them. I assume retrieving after would not be an issue but they won't let you in with large bags/purses/etc.
We went down the hall and up the elevator. Grabbed a number when we got to the right floor. We sat down. Waited about 15-20 minutes and got called to first window. Wife provided all paperwork as she was asked. Originals, photocopies, AoS packet, etc. She took fingerprints and then sat down.
We waited about ~45-60 minutes and then she was called to window 7. I believe that windows 1-5 and 8-12 are the initial windows while 7 and 8 are interview windows. You'll see what I mean when you get there. They are slightly indented into the wall unlike the "paperwork" windows.
We had a nice gentleman conduct the interview. He asked all the usual questions. How did we meet, when did we meet, when did we get married, how was the reception. We told him we met on Omegle.com which he had not heard of before. This is not a surprise given the typical nature of the website! :P
He reached to his lower right and produced the "Welcome to America" letter while stating "This will definitely be my easiest one all day!" (my wife and I have known each other since 2009 and have been vistiing each other frequently ever since). We brought a wedding album which he did not ask to see. It wouldn't have fit through the slot anyway.
All in all, completely painless. Do your homework and make sure you follow the P4 letter instructions to the letter and you'll be fine. Do not forget your Loomis page! The P4 letter that goes out from Canada is very vague about the requirement for this (it asks you to go to a website to see Canada's country-specific requirements). We forgot about it and printed it the day before. Lucky catch! |
