Embassy Review : |
So my wife's interview was scheduled on June 12th at New Delhi embassy. I (US citizen) decided to join my wife for the interview.
Stay:
I recommend Hotel Visaya in Panchsheel Park. It is a nice, clean hotel.
Arrival at the embassy:
So our interview was scheduled for 8:30 AM. We arrived at the embassy around 7:45 AM. The Delhi embassy does not allow you in until half hour before your appointment time therefore there is no point in arriving too early. When we arrived, there were 2 lines. One line going into the embassy was for people who had 8:00 o'clock appointment time and the other line on the other side of the road was for people with appointments scheduled for later time.
So we were waiting in the other area (in hot weather) until they started forming line for people with 8:30 appointment. While in the 8:30 line, the security guys at the embassy informed us that they don't allow big bags inside. We had to leave our empty bag with someone outside. So DON'T BRING BIG BAGS WITH YOU TO DELHI EMBASSY!.
After we turned in our cellphones, we went through security and we were inside the embassy.
Inside the embassy:
At first station we had to show them our interview letter to which they assigned a number. After that we had to go to the VFS station where we provided information on where the passport should be shipped to.
Then we went inside the building and waited for our number to show up. When our turn came, we went to a booth with Indian lady who took finger prints. Then we had to wait in another area. Again, our number came up and we were called by another Indian lady. She had the documents I had submitted to NVC. She asked for our PCC but we had already submitted that!! I guess she wanted an updated one as the first one that we submitted was taken out more than 6 months ago. But we had taken out another PCC recently because we knew they may make a big deal about it. SO MAKE SURE THE PCC YOU SUBMITTED IS NOT OLDER THAN 6 MONTHS AT THE TIME OF INTERVIEW. Then she returned our originals to us and kept the passport.
Then we had to wait for the interview.
INTERVIEW (FINALLY):
We waited for more than half an hour and it wasn't helping my wife that 1 person in front of us got rejected. So finally our number came up and my wife's interview was done by a nice American lady (who also spoke Hindi). I stood next to my wife while the IO conducted the interview.
Questions:
IO: Would you like to do the interview in Hindi or English?
Wife: In English.
IO: (Smiling) Thanks. It's a little tough for me to do the interview in Hindi.
IO: What's your name?
Wife: (Answer)
IO: Who is calling you?
Wife: (Answer)
IO: Where does he work?
Wife: (Answer)
IO: What does his parents do?
Wife: (Answer)
IO: How many siblings does he have?
Wife: (Answer)
IO: What is his brother's name?
Wife: (Answer)
Then IO started writing something and said you visa is approved and you can go to the counter behind us and give the document pick up information there. She did not ask me anything.
So we told them that we wanted the passport delivered to her house and within a week the passport arrived.
Now my wife is here with me and thanks to Visa Journey we didn't run into any paperwork issues.

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
