Consulate Review: Peru
Review Topic: IR-5 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 11, 2012
Embassy Review : Overall, consulate staff was very nice. My mother had to go to the consulate twice due to some error in the application. First appointment was scheduled at 08:30. We got there at 08:00 and soon we were already waiting inside the consulate. It took around two hours for the first lady (who seemed to be Peruvian to me) to review my mom's paper work. She went over every single paper to make sure that everything was there. Also, she asked my mother how many times she visited the States and for how long she visited. Then she started going through the application where she found an error in one of the answers. She fingered printed my mother and told her that she is going to reopen the application so we can make the corrections. She rescheduled her the following week for oath. Second appointment was at 08:15. An American lady called her and asked her to read a piece of paper, then the lady started typing and thanked us for being patience for waiting another week. When she was done typing she told my mom congratulations, your visa have been approved. She gave us a paper where it was written directions on how to open an account with DHL courier for the passport to be delivered. The second time only took 10 minutes and we were out for some breakfast.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
