Document Intake
My fiancee arrived there at about 11:00am for document intake. The scheduled time was about 12:30. Apparently there was already a big line. There are actually two lines, immigration and non-immigration. She accidentally went into the wrong line and realized it too late, thus making her wait into the building a little longer than expected.
They started to let people in around 12:30pm. She went through security, and then they started to call numbers that were given on slips. My fiancee was unlucky and was second to last to be called. It seemed to be completely random since she wasn't second to last to actually get in.
She turned in everything on the instructions sheet. Even though on the email (We had the electronic file) it says you have to bring a copy of the email to the interview, they didn't take that. She signed the DSI-156K and GNI-2 in front of the person taking the documents. Surprisingly, they asked her if my tax forms were included and she responded that she didn't know. The document taker took the I-134 and everything attached to it, looked through it, and told her that she can turn it in later today if she can get it.
Now I didn't think that my W2's were needed since I had employment letters, bank statements, and so forth. I got a call from her around 5:30am and scrambled to get everything together and sent all my 2010-2011 W2's to her.
Interview
She arrived at around 7:30am, the interview time, but they didn't start letting people in until 8:00am. Luckily this time around she was one of the earlier ones called to the window. She was interviewed by an American looking male who spoke very fluently in Chinese, which is the language the interview was done in.
The interviewer looked over all the documents extensively, and then asked the following questions:
1) Have you ever been to America?
2) How did you meet your fiance?
3) Are you a member of the CCP?
4) Do you have those tax documents? (See above)
5) What does your fiance do?
After that, he told her that she was approved and took her passport. She had also filled out a slip during document intake which I assume contained some personal information such as her mailing address, which she turned in along with her passport.
I know some sites list Guangzhou as one of the harder consulates to get approved at, but I believe if you're here looking through VJ then there is nothing to be afraid of if you make sure that everything is in order.
