Consulate Review: Bangkok, Thailand
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 23, 2013
Embassy Review : Fiance went for interview aproximately 1.5 weeks ago. Arrived at 5:30am was first in line. First to interview.
Western male did interview in Thai. Did not ask if preferred in English.
Fiance did not have birth certificate (in US passport serves same function for identification- not so at US Consulate)
Interviewer in particular paid attention to photos and Skype timeline/chat logs. (we video Skype twice daily) He also asked for additional proof of relationship (which she had with her but was so nervous that she forgot she had)
She was not granted visa but was given form that outlined what she needed to provide and address to mail to via registered mail.
Overall she said he acted as though he wanted to grant visa but she failed to meet all requirements on that day.
She made a trip back to her village and local amphur to get copy of birth certificate and then mailed all documents back to Embassy. We (im) patiently wait....
Interviewer in particular made much to do with other applicants over having copies of birth certs instead of originals but according to my fiance copies rather than originals is more common. He did grant at least one visa with a non original birth cert that day.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
