Consulate Review: Tokyo, Japan
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 10, 2013
Embassy Review : Writing this review on behalf of my husband.
So he got there around 7:30-7:50ish and was number 12 in line out of 20ppl. They handed him the clear folder to put his documents in(new tax returns, updated I-864 and recent paystubs from my job),Letterpack, passport, passport photos, fingerprints, and then he had to wait an hour till he was called for his interview. The CO according to my husband never smiled, and didn't give my husband a choice if he wanted to converse in English or Japanese, so it was entirely in English.
He just asked basic questions:
How did we meet?
Where did my husband go to school?
What work am I doing right now?
And after that he said "congratulations you're approved!"
It also seems that maybe we didn't have to hand in the recent tax returns + I-864 cause even though they took the tax returns they said that co-sponsors already qualified looking at their history for the poverty guideline to support him so they didn't really need it? They also gave back our updated I-864,marriage certificate,BC,and medical stuff.
But yeah, better safe than sorry.
Overall this happened all within an hour! My husband was done by 9:30.
IMHO this embassy is pretty straight forward, get there early, have your stuff, and your good to go=)
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Seattle
Event Description
Entry Date : 07/09/2013
Embassy Review : My husband arrived in SEA at 10:55am, and when he asked which line to go on, one of the Security officers put him on the wrong line(vistor's line), but hubby had enough sense to ask again so he could go onto the green card line.
Anyways, it took the hubby two hours to get through immigration due to the fact that they had *Priority for people who needed special assistance. This practice, although understandable, was ridiculous when you only had one officer working, plus new planes coming in and hubby had a connecting flight at 2:15pm. Someone online eventually made some noise of this issue, so hubby was eventually next.
The Security Officer just asked my husband if he was married and that was that.

Minus the line wait and such, I'll rate it a 3 since they just asked one question and let my hubby go.

Harassment Level : Moderate

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
