We reached the office half an hour before the appointment time, went through the security check and then placed the appointment letter in a box. We were called in by the officer at the allocated time. The officer asked us general questions like when we met, in what circumstances, history about our past marriages and the circumstances under which we divorced, asked us for photos (he went through all of them) and then asked for evidence for ongoing relationship (lease, bank statements, insurance etc, gave him copies), went through the I-485 forms (Yes/No questions). It went very smoothly, the Officer was very nice and friendly. The interview was over in 30 minutes. In general it was a very pleasant experience. Piece of cake. |

So today was the big day, the much awaited day, well I had no reason to be stressed or nervous, but as you know after such a long wait, this would be the deciding game point. Well reached at the consulate 15 minutes before the scheduled time, I suggest you should reach their earlier, as sooner you reach the quicker it will be done. Went to the cashier, did the paperwork and all and then waited for the call. In total from the time I entered till the CO call I must have waited for roughly an hour which was good as it helped me calm down. The CO was very friendly, I was expecting someone strict and rude, however he made me feel comfortable, explained how the interview would be structured. He asked few administrative questions followed by relationship based questions. Let me point out here, all K - 1 applicants, provided all your other paperwork is in order etc, the CO is interested in knowing how you met your partner, how the relationship started, how has it been and what are the plans for the future (what do you intend to work there as). Before I knew he was like "Welcome to America".
And by the way he didn't ask for any evidence etc. So all you guys don't you stress out too much. As long as you are genuine and your relationship is rock solid there is nothing much to worry about.
All the Best. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
