Event Description
Review Date : January 7, 2014
Embassy Review : My fiance and i arrived to the embassy at 6:30am . There was a line of approx. 7 people. Gladly the climate was good. It is summer here and most of the times early in the mornings the sun is shining and burning so it is hot but it was a nice and fresh morning. The line start moving at 7:15am. First we passed through a machine that looks like the airport and they took only my cellphone. Then we get in and We went to a big room with air conditioner. Inside there are some windows that are for tourist visas and then separately other windows for immigrant visas. We sat on the benches and wait. I was called to a window, I think it was 10, and there was a Peruvian lady on a computer. She asked for my passport and if I had my other passport (I did and give it to her) and my passport pics. Then waited and called again and went with my fiance but she told my fiance to sit down. She was nice and asked for 2012 taxes, the I-134 form, my police certificate and my other to certificates (antecedentes penales and antecedentes judiciales). Then she asked for my medical. She asked for my home and cellphone number (she was all the time writing in the computer) on her desk she was having a huge file with all of our information (on the top page there was a huge red stamp that was saying APPORIVED, I don’t know if that meant about my NOA2 or the interview) and she started to read one of the pages that contained our entire story and she start asking me:
- How you both met?
- Who initiated the relationship?
- When did he come?
- Was he married?
- Does he have any children?
- Do you know his family?
-Have you been in the Us?
I answered her and I told her if she wanted to see some pics. She nicely say "your relationship is too genuine it is not necessary but sometimes the CO ask for them"
Then she took my finger prints and I told her “I have here some other evidence, this letter sign by both of us" and she said "oh give me your letter to intend" and I gave it to her. And then, just in case I took out my pics and those call her attention and I show some of them. (I show one pic of a print screen of me, my niece, my fiance, his daughter, and his cat on Skype. She said "aweeee the little girl is so cute! What a lovely cat" and then she saw a colorful pic with lots of people and she was curious haha and said "oh and that pic?" and I showed her a pic of my cousins wedding. In the pic it showed 16 of my cousins (including bride and groom) Daven and me. She gave me back the envelope of the medical with my X-ray only and told me I should take that to the US. Then she told me to sit that the CO will call me and my fiance.
There were some people there in the waiting room. Then an American CO came in and told to all of us to raised our right hand and repeat after him some words. Then we sat and I was called to the room 15. We get there and there are 2 chairs and a window. In the back there is the smiley CO (the same that make us repeat those words with our right hand raised). With a big smile he asked if we wanted the interview in English or Spanish and I said English. He asked my fiance if he knows Spanish and my fiance said "only a few words". With a big smile he asked "So Antonella, who is the guy next to you?" I laughed and said "My fiance, Daven". He smiled and said "Well I can see that your fiance have been here so many times" he turned and asked my fiance "How is that you ended up in Peru?" and he answered. Then he asked my fiance about his divorce "So you have been with Antonella before your divorced what finalized, how is that?" (Really he was very nice and he always kept smiling) My fiance answered and was taking out his divorce decree were it stated there that his relationship finalized on November 2010 but the CO said "don't worry I don't need evidence, its ok.” Then he asked me "You have been a lot of times to Ecuador why? Did you stay there for a year or more?" And I answered him and then he asked me "How is that you speak English so well? Where did you learn?" I answer. Then he start talking with my fiance about San Diego, California. After that he asked if I was in the US before and answered. Pushy me, asked "I have some pics here" and he smiled and said "Don't worry, you guys are totally fine, I have it all clear, I have to say that you are APPROVED and congratulations" he then he passed me my old passport and a paper of DHL registration and said "You have to make your registration today so you can pick your passport" I told him I already did that and he said "Good, then that is all" And we left. It took only 5 minutes approx. We were kind of shocked... till now. We left the embassy exactly at 9:19am. We had SO MUCH EVIDENCE they really didn't even ask for it. It was a good experience and I was incredibly amazed of how calm we both were due to the day before being so NERVOUS.
It was definitely a good experience. Now it is weird feeling this calm, I totally made stress a big part of my life for the past (almost) 2 years.
The other plans will be stressful BUT the big obstacle was passed. Now I have to wait for my passport.
Good luck to everybody and my advice is really BE HONEST IN EVERYTHING! And remember the dates your fiance visited, show them that you are calm and comfortable with your answeres.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
