Event Description

Embassy Review : We arrived in Santo Domingo on Tuesday evening & stayed at Jardines del Teatro hotel across the street from the consulate, pretty nice hotel room. We arrived at the consulate around 7:20 on Wednesday morning, our interview was at 8:45. They immediately took our interview letter & gave us lucky # 105. The security line moved pretty quickly. Once inside we found a seat in the middle, by a fan, lol, & the wait began. At 9:35 they finally called us to window # 18 to turn in the police certificate, banco popular receipt, his Dominican passport, & they asked him to write his 2nd last name on his ds-230 application. They asked him if he has ever been to US, to both of us they asked if we had been married before & if we had children together, then to me they asked if I had moved since filing our petition. Then we were sent to window 15 for his fingerprints. We went back to our seats to wait some more. We watched lots of couples & families come out with their green slips. There was a consular officer who seemed to be approving everyone within very little time we both said we wanted him, but he left for lunch We waited & waited, the room was slowly getting emptier & we were starving. The officer we wanted came back from his lunch & starts whizzing thru some more approvals. Juan went to get us a snack bc neither of us could wait any longer, he had not been back to our seat for more then 2 minutes when we got called to window 24, around 1255, the consular officer we wanted. He swore us in & had Juan sign his ds-230, then he asked us for any evidence we wanted to give him, we gave some call logs, fb chat, pictures, receipts & a few other things, he looked at my passport stamps from both my old & new one & asked me how many times I had been to DR & for how long. Then he told my husband to go have a seat. He then asked me:
Where does he work?
What does he do there?
How long has he worked there?
Where did he work before?
Has he gone to college? when & what degree? I knew his degree & where but not when, I got extremely nervous at this point
How did we meet?
Does he have family in US?
The officer starts typing on the computer & time seemed to stand still
Then he asked who my husband lives with?
& where does his mom work?
He starts typing again & time seemed to stand still, probably was about 30 seconds but felt like 5 minutes. Then he closes our folder, tears off the green slip from the front & says we are approving the visa, go to the counter & pay domex. I was so shocked bc he didn't even talk to Juan, I could barely pick our stuff up. Juan meets me at the door & says what happened, my hands were full of our paperwork I could barely present the green slip to him. He gave me a big kiss & we walked to the domex counter, he still asking me what happened I said just wait til we leave, I was so happy I could barely speak, lol. We payed the domex fee & gave some info to them, & left about 1:10, almost 6 hours after we arrived. Good luck to anyone who is yet to have there interview, be prepared bc you never know what will happen.

Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
