Embassy Review : |
I must start by saying that we have not been members for long therefore the delay review.
My husband interview date was 12/05/2011. Khalid had been preparing for his interview time before as every one else I am sure has.
There was a lot of tension for the two of us as well as excitement thinking we will be together soon after the interview. He traveled by car almost five hours to make sure he will be in Cairo on time, I remember that night Khalid looked his best, my family was at my home and we went ON LINE to wish khalid good luck in his interview, he looked so nervous but confident that everything will go great. During his trip to Cairo I called him every half hour from USA just to check on him and cheer him up since I knew he was nervous.
When he arrived to the Embassy he was the first one but he went to the car and by the time he got back there was already around five people in front of him. He waited in line and once inside the embassy he waited several hours until he was called to get his fingerprints and pay his DHL. Than he set to wait perhaps two more hours until his name was called, Khalid says the person who interviewed him was a woman and another Egyptian lady that was standing next to her I guess in case my husband needed some type of translation.
The first question asked to khalid was how did we meet, and also how many times I been to Egypt, she also asked him if we have kids, this is when things started to get ugly, my husband replied yes we have a son to what the officer replied \" Are you sure this is your baby\" and my husband said yes I have his birth certificate with me, and she said to him again \" Are you sure this is your baby\" Khalid told me at this time he took the deepest breath he could ever take and said to her yes I am sure this is my baby and if you need to request further proof we are willing to provide anything you ask us for.
Than the officer said to my husband are you Muslim he said YES, than she said is your son Muslim, Khalid said Yes, and is your wife Muslim khalid said No my wife practices Islam but she has not declare it in other words she does not have a certificate than she said does your wife wear the veil khalid said Yes.
Than she asked why your wife only come to visit twice, Khalid stated because of her Job than because she got pregnant with a high risk pregnancy and now we consider our baby is too young to travel. She also asked Khalid if she had pictures of us and Khalid said yes I do and when he was about to hand them to her she said no send them to me via DHL. she also ask khalid if he had the latest tax file and he said yes I have it here will you like to see it she said no send it DHL. Than she handed over to my husband the famous white document that stated \"The officer requires additional documentation in order to make a final determination on your visa application, etc and marked sponsor tax return 2010 and proof of relationship.
She never told khalid if he was approver or what but when I was able to speak to Khalid after the interview he was too frustrated to speak, he cried of anger and told me all he remembered is how humiliating this woman was when she asked him if our son was his. I guess this is what hurt him the most, as I told my husband take this as if they are doing their job and they want to see how far they can push you to see if you loose your cool! but Khalid was to upset to talk after the interview and at some point wanted to give up! so a lot of sadness and crying come after that and than we pulled ourselves together again and the next day we send all the documents via DHL I sent a great deal of proof of relationship including my medical files from the pregnancy and letters and ultrasounds from doctors in many stages of my pregnancy and the many times I was hospitalized do to my high risk pregnancy, we send pictures of my travels, emails, chats, pics of my family members and his while we chat online, and tons of phone bills since 2007 to the date DHL was sent.
A month later after they receive our documents I received a notice after I requested an update that Khalid was undergoing Mandatory Administrative Processing so as of today we are waiting to see when this case will be completed.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
