Appointment at 1.30 PM. I got there early, around 12.45 and already a line had formed around the gate. Electronic gate, camera's everywhere. At 1.30 a security guard steps out and starts letting people in 5 at a time. I was in the 3rd batch of 5. Empty pockets, remove all metal objects, you are searched with a handheld metaldetector, and you have to line up again infront of the main entrance. Now we're getting in one at a time. Again security, empty pockets etc.
Show the letter you had to bring and step through a metal detector gate now.
You get your stuff back,(papers, keys etc) and again you line up infront of a cubicle window. It's 2.30 when I step up to the window. the man is very friendly, asks to see my passport, the invitation letter, 2 passport photos and a bankstatement that proves i paid the fee. Furthermore he needs my international birth certificate, the I-134 and additional information regarding the affidavit of Support. No pictures, letters, emails or anything. Tells me to sit and wait till my name is called. 3.30 I'm called to the same window, there's a woman there, informs how I'm doing and tels me to raise my right hand and swear that what I'm telling is true. I do so and now she wants my biometrics (electronic fingerprints). After that she asks a couple of questions, about how we met, what line of work I'm in, what line of work my fiancee's in, if she has children, just general interest kind of stuff, as if she's making smalltalk.
"It looks good", she says and tells me that in 2 to 3 days I will have my visa in the mail by registered mail. At 3.30 i walk out the door. All in all it went pretty smooth (except for the waiting, but even that wasn't that bad) |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
