Received an I-797 in the mail on 3/3/14, stating that my wife's AOS is approved, and she should get her green card in 3 weeks.
I checked the uscis website today and it gives a tracking number to use on the usps website. Delivery is scheduled for 3-7-14. :) |

My fiancee arrived at the Embassy at about 6:55 AM and there was already a pretty big line. Even with the big line she got inside pretty fast, and she had to go through two security check points, then they took her fingerprints, and they gave her a number. When the number came up on the board she went to gate #6, she went up and the lady asked her for the forms from packet #4, the envelope from her medical exam, the copy of her birth certificate, her police background check, her family book, the certificate of never being married. The lady also took my I-134 form, and three years of my tax papers.
She told my fiancee to take a seat and wait for the interview. As she was sitting there she saw one of the C.O.'s looking at our file because she saw the pictures I had included, and he called another guy over to look at what I had sent and they both smiled, and a few minutes later my fiance saw her number on the screen, and then she went up to start the interview.
Below is a list of the questions the C.O. asked my fiancée. She said it only took about 7 minutes for the whole interview.

Who contacted who first?
How did you find that website where you met him?
What was your first impression of him the very first time you talked to him?
When did he first come to Vietnam?
What was your first impression of him when you first met him in person?
How long did he stay in Vietnam?
When and where did he propose to you?
Was anyone there when he proposed to you?
Were you surprised that he proposed to you?
What did you two do together while he was in Vietnam?
What does your fiancé do for a living?
What are you going to do to earn money when you come to the USA?
Have you ever been married?
Do you have any children?
Has your fiancé ever been married?
Do you know his ex-wife?
Do you know where his ex-wife lives?
Does your fiancé have children?
Have you spoken to his child online?
How old is she?
That was the end of the interview and the C.O. said she had passed, but they needed her to resubmit the DS-156 form because the form she gave them was not completely filled out, and they gave her a blue paper to bring back with the completed form. My fiancee must of looked a little worried, because the C.O. said don't worry you are really good and after you bring that form back you will get your visa soon. Then she left.
She called me at 9:45 AM (her time) to tell me how it went, so all in all it didn't even take a total of three hours from the time she got in line, till the time she left.
After she left the Embassy she went across the street to an agency to have them correct the DS-156 form, which cost her $50. She went to get something to eat and then she waited until about 12:30 PM to get back in line to drop off the corrected form. The afternoon must be a lot busier, because she had to wait from 12:30pm - 3:30pm just to give them the corrected form, and her passport.
Had my fiancee not had a problem with the DS-156 form it would have went much smoother for her, but all in all I think it went extremely well.
Each case is different and I just wanted to share how it went for us. My fiancee took two large backpacks filled with evidence of our relationship and they didn't ask to see a single item. I guess it was better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. I front loaded the I-129F packet with a huge binder labeled "proof of ongoing relationship", so I don't know if the C.O. was convinced of our relationship from seeing that or then again maybe we could have gotten by on a lot less. I do know one thing, I don't think we could have passed the interview had we not found this website before we sent off the packet to the USCIS. |
