Consulate Review: Chile
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 4, 2013
Embassy Review : Our experience with the embassy was great the only problem was that my fiance's packet 3 & 4 took over a month to arrive. I was in Chile on vacation so I was with my fiance during his entire visa process. We had to go to the embassy to pick it up. But everything else was great every time I had to email them they would message me back within a few hours at the most. The day of our interview we went to go pick up my fiance's medical at 12pm then at we made our way over to the embassy there was only one person online so we went in right away. We were the first ones called up to the interview and I've heard stories that although they allow the US citizen to attend the final interview they make them sit down during the first interview. The first interviewer was a very nice Chilean lady. She was actually the same lady who gave us our packet 3 & 4 and recognized us. She asked my fiance a bunch of questions regarding our relationship and she wanted to know specific dates as well. She asked me one questions and told us everything looked very good and to sit down and we will be called up for our final interview. We sat down for maybe 5 - 10 minutes then we were called up by an American guy who was about 30 years old. He asked my fiance four questions and then told us our visa was approved. He told us we could pick up the visa and it should be ready in 2-3 days. The interview was very easy and everyone at the embassy was very nice.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: JFK
Event Description
Entry Date : 2013-03-15
Embassy Review : My fiance came with me through the US citizen's line and we waited about 5 minutes. We were called over by an American gentleman I explained my fiance didn't speak English well enough to have a conversation so if he needed I could translate he told me not to worry since he won't ask us any questions. He joked with us a bit while he took my fiance's finger prints and picture. We were then taken to the back room where we waited about 10 minutes as another immigration officer typed everything into his computer. Then he called my fiance and we both went and sat down he asked my fiance when we intent to be married and he said ok you two are all set and handed us all of our paperwork and a paper with instructions on what papers we will need to adjust. Overall it was a very simple process.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
