Consulate Review: Tokyo, Japan
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 4, 2012
Embassy Review : I arrived there around 8:30 am for my 9:30 appointment. I got the number 25. I left Embassy around 10. So it took about 1.5 hours.

Question asked:
Where are you going to live in US?
Who is Alex (husband's name)?
What is the relationship between you and Ben (joint sponsor)?
Where did you and your husband meet?
Where did you get married?
When did you get married?
Do you have a child?
What was your major in college?
Will you going to work or go back to school once you are in US?

The interviewing officer was a Caucasian man. He was not too friendly, but polite and gave me a few smiles during the interview lol.

I forgot to bring a prepaid envelope, but there were shipping labels we can use. You pay for post when the visa is arrived at your home.
Rating : Good

POE Review: Los Angeles
Event Description
Entry Date : 2012-06-27
Embassy Review : I arrived at LAX around 6pm. I went to one of the visiters lines and the very unfriendly Chinese officer looked through my documents. Then I was directed to go to the booth no. 1 with all my documents. It's not a separate room, but it's located at the end of the long immigration counter. It's a little section next to handicapped line with some chairs.

There was absolutely nobody. One CBP took my documents and made me sign and make finger prints on 2 pieces of papers. Then I was asked to sit and wait. After 10 min all the officers were gone somewhere. I waited another 10-15 min there all by myself. Soon one guy came back and looked at my papers. He called me and said "good bye. go home!" after tried some Japanese on me.

It still took me 45 min for to get out of the airport. Overall, it was a stress-free experience.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
