Embassy Review : |
My appointment was for 31 July 9:00.
I rushed out of work at 5:30pm (Leeds) rushed home, quick change grabbed my bags, booked a taxi to Leeds station, managed to get an earlier train and was in Kings Cross by about 9 pm, taxi marshall got me in a taxi straight away to the Lincoln Hotel, (which was small but wonderful and close to embassy)I was in my room about 9:15pm couldn't believe how well it went. Fiance called me to wish me luck etc.
I got an early call for 5:30 am, got ready, had a quick breakfast. The hotel kept my bags.
Went outside got a cab, straight to embassy for around 7:15, joined a small queue after showing my documents to two girls in a tent, then a man asked to see your documents again whilst in the queue, It was passport and interview letter.
Then joined a small queue to go into a security room (this is before you get in the embassy) went through security, came outside again and around the building into the embassy (some armed police around). Went to reception, submitted letter again, received a number and told to wait in a big room and listen for your number being called.
At last (after about 20 mins maybe a bit more) I got called to a booth where a man took my fingerprints and took the documents he needed. he said we had the wrong affidavit of support but the Counsellor may accept it. He gave me a form to complete for the return of my passport.
Sat down for about 30 mins, got called again to booth 16, saw a very pleasant lady, she said yours is an unusual situation , tell me about it. ( I am marrying my ex) I explained to her some things and she seemed okay with it. (she never mentioned the wrong affidavit form). she chuckled because on one of the forms where it asks about previous US visits I typed a long list of dates etc (30) of my visits. Then she approved me after about 5 mins. she had to wait for her computer to do something and we were chatting about POE and what it was like last time I did it. Phew what a relief, I am so happy.
Went to the DX desk to pay for delivery of passport and out of there, back to hotel got my bag, taxi to Kings Cross, back home 1:00pm. I was so worried and it went so smoothly. Sorry if this is garbled I am in a rush to work. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
