Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 10, 2013
Embassy Review : My fiancés interview was not long at all in Mumbai. There was a ton of people at the embassy that day and each person only took minutes to be interviewed he said.

The lady asked him 4 questions:
1. How does your family feel about this?
2. How does her family feel about this?
3. How did you meet?
4. Why would a well-educated man as yourself choose to be with someone like her? (because I’m not college educated)

When he was don’t answering the questions she looked at the computer said you are approved I just want to see the police report from the UK.
2 weeks later we got the police report from the UK submitted it at the VFS office and was told his visa would be ready in 4 to 5 days. 3 weeks later we get a call from the Embassy stating they want to see a police report from India because there was nothing on the police report from the UK. They would send us another 221g form in 1 weeks’ time and we just needed to go to the passport office and get the police report. 3 weeks later from the time they called he finally gets the new 221g from in the mail, but it’s for someone else with all of their information.

He goes to the VFS office the guard won’t let him in because the paperwork is not in his name??? He told them that’s why I’m here to get the correct paperwork. He does this 2 times and they won’t let him in so I called our Senators office in Ohio and they got us a new form from Marc Williams. He submits that and then it still takes 60 more days to get his Visa in hand.

So he was approved on September 6th 2012 in Mumbai and actual got his Vis in hand on January 9th 2013.
Rating : Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
