The first K1 visa, received on May 11, listed the wrong nationality.
VFS made this process much harder than it had to be. They gave false and contradictory information, and their misinformation cost us over 8 weeks of processing time and the first interview. HOW DO WE TELL THE US GOVERNMENT VFS IS INCOMPETENT? My State Senator wrote, I contacted the Consulate, but no one seems to know how to file official complaints against VFS. |

VFS has made our lives extremely difficult, right up to preparing for the interview. My French fiance, who lives in India, had all the documents prepare a month before the interview. We went together to VFS in Chennai, the closest office to where he lives, and went through our forms with the VFS people. We arrived with the HDFC demand draft, but the VFS people told us not to because I had already paid the $340 fee to USCIS when I filed the application. I was skeptical, so we didn't submit the Packet 3 then and I called VFS. They confirmed with confidence that he didn't have to pay another fee if I already paid the $340 in America. Then we went again to VFS (with the DD, just in case), and for the THIRD time VFS told us we shouldn't submit the money. Three weeks later, my fiance traveled to Mumbai for his interview, and the Consular Officer refused him entry because he didn't have the DD! He told the whole story and luckily secured an interview for the next day, then had to scramble to issue a new DD in the correct amount. When we called VFS, they insisted we "kindly send an email" -- to which we never received a response beyond the auto-generated reply! |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
