We could have easily taken 5-6 weeks off the time from receiving embassy instructions (Pkt 3) and the interview had 2 things didn't happen: 1) She was in the US with me on a tourist visa when the embassy packet arrived at her home in Tokyo. We didn't anticipate it happening so fast. 2)We didn't foresee the requirement of getting a Canadian Criminal Background check. That process, even expedited was about 3 weeks. Even the Japanese police report was reported to take two weeks, but actually took 1 week. Even with the 1 month stay in the US, we were ready to go with all docs a full week prior to the interview. |

We had to do the fingerprinting twice for some reason. That added 3 weeks to the process. |

Received a RFE letter. They need more info regarding showing joint tenancy and said that I didn't give them the compete 2012 tax return (which is funny because I gave them a 2014 tax return). This time I'm going to smother them with info. The package will literally be approx 350 pages double-sided (with 3 tax returns with all the worksheets, w-2, 1099s, everything). I guess the health insurance, joint bank accounts, affidavits is not enough. The only thing I can see is a problem is that we don't co-mingle ALL the money. I wouldn't do that with a domestic wife and I don't see a reason to do it with an international wife. I had plenty of assets before the marriage that I want to stay in my name only. I'm frustrated, can't you tell? |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
