Embassy Review : Bow's appointment was scheduled for 0700. She said there were 6 others that day also with the 7AM appointment. Her interview was only about 15 minutes long. The officer asked the basic questions such as...How did you two meet?, Whats my name and job. Bow came with many pictures of us and tons of emails/messenger conversations etc. However she was issued a 221g based on the fact we had no evidence of domicile. Since I am working as a army contractor in Afghanistan they needed evidence of domicile. Our lawyer mentioned nothing about this to us beforehand. She was sent home with passport in hand and told to come back the next Monday with evidence supporting my established domicile in the U.S. After going online and researching proof of domicile while working abroad.... We compiled all of documents such as title to both houses, electric and utility bills, cable bills, Letter from my parents stating my area of residence in the U.S., copies of home owners insurance, I also submitted a copy of a job letter from a company back home for when i finally quit my job here.

So back she went on Monday at 1pm. Once she got inside, she did not wait too long and submitted the new evidence to a consular assistant. (not the actual officer) At that point she waited almost 2 hours. At 5 minutes to 3pm the consular assistant came out with a piece of paper and said she can pick up her visa in two days. At that point they kept her passport and the relief has finally arrived for us. I rated the experience a 4 basically because the consular officer was doing his job. My wife stated that the officer was nice but insisted I prove domicile because I worked overseas abroad.

Rating : Good
