My experience at the consulate was a smooth one. The interviewer was friendly and professional and even though I was stressed and nervous, he made me feel calm. Got asked a couple of questions, and was told my visa was granted. Happy with the consulate and the result! |

Embassy Review : |
I came in from Qatar, and landed at around 3pm. The line was very long and I had to wait about 60 minutes or more to get to the immigration officer. She was very friendly and tore open my brown envelope (I made a joke about how good it felt she did that, and she made a joke about the seriousness of not being allowed to open the envelope) I was then told to go to room 2, I wasn't asked any questions by her. After waiting about 90 minutes at interview room two, the gentleman was very friendly and had a sense of humor (he had some problems communicating to non-english speaking people) and kept assuring us he would work as fast as possible. I wasn't asked any questions and he stamped my I-94, I was then allowed to leave.
I did however have one issue. After being cleared by customs, without any hiccup, except for the waiting time, I encountered a very rude baggage checking staff. They drew a line thru my declaration form (I don't know if it is because of my type of visa, or what) so they did not check my luggage. The staff member made a very rude comment after seeing I was a K-1 visa holder. "oh K-1, go figure!" and threw my passport back to me and waved me away. For a person not knowing who I am or what we went thru to be together, I found this very insulting and sad .
Otherwise it was a smooth POE with friendly staff. If you have a connecting flight, I would recommend getting one at least three or four hours after arriving. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
