Event Description

Embassy Review : My interview at Norfolk, VA went very well.

Until the actual time on the interview sheet, me and my spouse along with everyone else waited outside the building.
Once we got in, we sat in the area for a little bit, but we were the second couple to be called in.

The lady that conducted our interview was very nice, and made us feel comfortable. She went over our applications to check everything was current and spelled correctly.

One issue I had was my Identification Certificate (what they use as Birth Certificate in Korea) was translated as 'Basic Certificate,' because that would be the literal translation from Korean to English, but on her list of documents, they had the Korean pronunciation of the name of document (Gibon Jeungmyungseo) spelled out and I pointed out that the document I had was Gibon Jeungmyungseo, just translated differently. And she was okay with that and just made me write on my translation 'Gibon Jeungmyungseo' under the 'Basic Certificate.'

Then she asked to see our documents regarding the marriage. I had brought in:
Bank statements for our joint account, one for the most recent month, and another for the first month we joined accounts.
(She looked over the statement and circled the parts where it showed that both our paychecks were coming into this account.)
Our latest phone bill. Both our cell phone numbers were in one bill.
(She checked to usage list, I think she was seeing if we talked to each other on a regular basis, which we do.)
My car registration, under both our name.
Some pictures of us, taken over the two year period we have known each other. One with me, him, and a judge when he officiated our ceremony, though I was not in a wedding dress.
(She didn't ask any questions about these.)

I was expecting all sorts of questions about what toothpaste he uses, etc., but she asked no questions, and just told us that we were approved. Then she answered any questions we had about what happens next, like when we will get my green card and what things I have to do after I receive it.

She added that the process really isn't difficult for people like us, but when people try to hide things or lie in front of her it raises issues.
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
