We were a little bit surprised after over 10 months waiting and thinking we should receive wife's GC w/o interview. Interview was smooth. IO said congrats and that we should wait about 2 weeks to get my wife's GC in the mail. |

Howdy all,
My fiancee and son left Sao Paulo and travel to Rio via coach (R$75 each) and stayed at Hotel Monte Castelo (R$120 p/night she and son). Taxi from Bus Station to Hotel - inside taxi - R$35. Hotel is clean and cheap, employees were very professional and you can leave your belongs there and pick them back once leaving Consulate at no fee. Taxi from Hotel to Consulate about R$15/20.
They arrived at 6AM - They were the first ones on the line - and there was a consulate employee telling where to stay; make sure to tell to the guy that you are there for a K1 visa interview or family related and not as a tourist. They got inside at 7:20AM. Three steps: One employee asked to see all paper work i.e. DS's forms, pics passport style, etc. Employee even can fix your paper work if something were wrong or missing. After that you will have to pay your fees at the consulated. Exchange rate was kind higher. Our was about US$ 1 / R$2.22. Other lady check all papers again and return most of the originals. All steps were very fast. After 10 minutes, they were called to be interviewed. A woman - CO (asian alike) with very good Portuguese asked: How we meet; What I do for living; where we do intend to live in the US; If a big weeding party is programmed; to my stepchild, how old he is and How I become US citizen. She was typing while asking. After 4 minutes she said: Ok, I am going to approve you guys, congrats and have a very nice and happy new life with your future husband/family in the US. All employess were very educated, professional and helpful. Once leaving there, CO said to ask orientation in order to go to the post office and pay for the delivery. We were charged about R$65 for a expedite service. R$52 for the regular one. They left that place before 8:30AM. Both passports, orientation letter and two sealed envelopes: Do not open and Nao abra sticker arrived at our home in Sao Paulo on Jun/7, so only two days after the interview process.
Very nice experience and fyi CO did not ask for any ongoing proofs like pics, call logs, skype, etc. Also, as you can see, I was unable to be there with them, but no issues at all.
Good luck to all and thank you so much GOD and all members for the tips and words. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
