Comments : I got into the states safely. My POE at Pearson Airport was fine. After the check in they sent me to the secondary and I stayed there for 30min, no questions about my relationship, the officer checked my envelope, my passport, my I-94 and gave me my passport. Happy Happy! but I had only 20 min to board.. Scary!

Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 11, 2012
Embassy Review : Hi guys,
I will try to write down my experience at the Consulate of Montreal, May 7th.
we were schedule or 8am. My fiance flew from the states on Sunday morning and arrived in Montreal in the afternoon. I took the via Rail train from Toronto and arrived in Montreal Sun afternoon as well. I got at the hotel one hour before my fiance, so I was able to do the check-in and get settled. We stayed at Hilton Bonaventure, just in front of the Central Station and 8 min walking to the Consulate (Our one night stay at this hotel, was a friend\'s gift for us ).
Anyway, we went out for dinner and before we walked to the Consulate just make sure we would know where we would go on Monday morning.

So, i didnt sleep at all the night before, my fiance slept like an angel, guys don\'t worry like girls, right? ahahah.
Monday 6h40 we arrived at the Consulate and there were 3 people in front of us. We didn\'t chat with them all the time, just a bit, everyone looked pretty nervous, including myself, my fiance was very calm, telling me jokes, kissing me every minute to calm me down ahahah.. I made him hold my bag, with one blinder, one accordion file and 4 small folder with just some extra docs I thought they could ask, it was pretty heavy.

After half an hour my fiance was tired and asking what time they would open the doors lol.. So, 7h30 the security guy opened the door and just in front of us, 2 people had to return because they had either a cell phone or a big bag which weren\'t allowed. So, we ended up being the first ones. He asked for my passport, my letter and put a sticker on my passport. We passed through the security, taking off out belts, jackets, wallet and all the papers. My fiance wasnt asked to show anything, but to be save we brought his passport as same VJrs advised.
We went down the stairs and SET in front of the elevator (thank you everyone for the hint on this).. I think 10 min later the guy came and open the elevator door and asked to press number 19.. We faced the back door eheheh.. (My fiance, you did read the blog, didn\'t you?.. Me: Just follow me, baby\" ahaha..
We received the paper C1, we set a bit and soon we were called.
A blond nice lady, asked for the docs, my birth certification, translation of it, my police certificates, financial and all the supporting + letter of intend.. She didnt want the divorce paper, my photos (2), and she gave back some papers that i attached with my P3 (Montessori Diploma, bank statements, my taxes) for those who doesn\'t know, I am from Brazil, I am a worker in Canada, so I felt like sending some extra papers to prove my residence) what wasn\'t necessary she gave back. She took my fingerprinting and asked to sit and wait.

My name was called window 10.. My fiance and I walked to it. Very nice blond lady, had our petition. Here it comes the interview:

Officer: Congratulations on your engagement!
We: thank you! So, I signed and we both lifted up our right hand..bla..bla.. ( I guess this part was in the middle of the interview.. can\'t remember very much.. sorry

Officer: Well, tell me your story, I love hearing story like that!
Me: We met thought his best friend since high school which is married to my
best Brazilian Friend

Officer: I have a Brazilian friend that went to US and later she married an American and now they have 3 beautiful kids
We: how cool!

Officer: Oh, it was more like a set up! .. she was typing and looking at our papers briefly, never looking directly in our eyes
We: well, kinda of

Officer: Where did you guys meet physically?
Me: In Toronto

Officer: And when was it?
Me: Oct 2010

Officer: So, you guys go back and forth? how is that?
My fiance: NO, I go, she can\'t

Officer: Have you been to US?
Me: Yes, I lived there 2006-2008

Officer: Did you have a work permit?
Me: hummmm.. Yes! ( I wasnt sure cause I was J1 that time ahaha)

Officer: Did you go back to US after 2008?
Me: No,
Officer: Why not?
Me: Because I have my life in Brazil and later I came to Canada

Officer: Do you have problem with the immigration?
Me: NO

Officer: What do you do?
fiance: General Manager company XXX

Officer: Do you still living in.. said my address
Me: Yes

Officer: Are you still in ... said my fiance address
Fiance: Yes

Officer: Well, everything looks fine in the system, your papers are all ok..
Congratulations!!! I am going to give you some instruction.

My fiance look at me and said: what?? Are we approved? I think so.. lol
She handled us the \"welcome letter\" and we hugged each other .. sweet!

It might seem long, but it was short and fast 8h25am we were leaving the building. I really advice people to get early, it gets busy.
Thank you again all of you for prayer, help and time. We couldnt have gone that far without you. I thought it would be really hard, since I am not permanent resident and i am from another country. But, God is great and He makes a way when it seems there\'s no way.
Thank you again!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
