December 24, 2012
My interview was on October 24, 2011 for my K1 visa. Before the day of the interview, I flew to Manila because I live in Cebu. I felt nervous, anxious and a lot of questions on my head on what will be the questions during my interview. A night before my interview, I could not even sleep because I was so nervous but I tried really hard to sleep til I fall to sleep.
I woke up something like 3:30am,October 24, 2012,I was still lying on my bed and kept thinking for my interview on that day. My future half called me on my phone, he was so supportive and he keeps calling me even before my interview. I am so blessed, he is always there even we are apart in a thousand miles.
At 4:30am if I am not mistaken, I get ready, had my shower and dress up. I had a little cup of coffee before I started walking going to Manila Embassy. It was fun walking going there at the same time felt nervous. When I got there in front of the gate of US Embassy Manila, there was a six security guards very early in the morning,I was confused though, they were standing outside. I asked one of the security guard if where is the line for those applicants to have a visa interview, the guard pointed to the right direction to another gate where there is a flyover or a sky passed. I said to myself, Oh my God I still need to walk again, hehe.
When I got there like 4:40am in that gate, there were a lot of people having one line towards to the embassy. There were strange people too, shouting like"you can not bring your phones, any liquid, foods and electronic devices and other things that are prohibited inside the embassy, if you have, you can left with us and you are going to pay like P150 and they will going to give you like a card, so that you can claim that after your interview but I dont think so if they will going to return your belongings, it might be. You better not to bring any prohibited things when you have your interview.
At 6:30am the security informing us to form a line going inside to the embassy. There were in-charge that informed us what documents to prepare before getting inside.
Like :
1. Passport
2. Appointment letter (for your interview)
3. DS156K
4. DS156
5. DS157
When I get inside, there will be x-ray scanning of your things as well as yourself. After that, there were different window per visa category to get the priority numbers. Mine was 1006, I think it was a nice number. Then, we went to another building, there were in- charge to get all the documents mentioned above and wait my number will be called. The priority numbers will be called random, be attentive and pay attention to your numbers. The numbers will be called in a screen/monitor or there were in charge to shout or call for your number but it is better to pay attention on what number flashed in the monitor.
I was waiting like one hour before my number flashed. When my number was called: 1006 (the monitor will blink four times for your number) with corresponding window’s number. I went to window#47, for my pre-interview. I was asked with the following questions by a male Filipino interviewer:
1. Who is your petitioner?
2. Is he employed, where and what kind of work he does?
3. Is your petitioner filed a petition before?
4. Do you have work?
5. How did you meet him?
6. What website did you meet him?
7. When the first and the last time you meet in person?
8. Where do you live?
9. So, you know how to speak Cebuano? (was a funny question)
10. Where do you stay in Manila? (I never thought, this will be included)
11. Do you have someone go with you here in Manila? (hehe, it was funny because he spoke Cebuano )
After the pre-interview, he told me to sit down again and wait for my number to be called again. I am still kept thinking at the back of my head, what will be next???.
Fifteen minutes after, my number was flashed in the monitor, four times with corresponding window#. I went to window#39 for a finger print scanning. Then, after the finger print scanning, I was told again to sit down and wait for my number to be called for the Consular Officer interview. I felt so much nervous at that time. I just kept praying to God to comfort me, hehe.
Ten minutes after, my number was flashed in the monitor with corresponding window#. I went to window#65, the consular officer was so nice. First, she was asking like, “Hi, how are you?” I respond with a smile even though I am so nervous, “Im fine and good morning.”..
The following questions were asked by the Consular Officer during my interview:
1. Did you live or work in United States? (I said, no)
2. Why you loved to talk to him? (Because he is so funny)
3. Does he have children? (Yes)
4. Is it okay for you, he has children? (yes, it really doesn’t matter)
She paused a little while and she told me, okay your VISA IS APPROVED, and go back to your sit and wait til your number will be called again. I was so nervous and then the questions weren’t that difficult, hehe. I made myself to be more nervous. I was thinking on my head, am I approved????huh??? I just go back to my sit and relax.
Five minutes after, my number was called again as well as my name. I went to window#73 , I was told ,”congratulations your visa is approved and wait for your visa until it will be delivered to you” Window#73 is for the delivery of the visa and it will be delivered to the address during you made your appointment for your interview. I thank God for all the efforts that I have done and for my future half and now he is my husband.
