Consulate Review: Dublin, Ireland
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 28, 2012
Embassy Review : ok guys here we go.....Arrived at the Embassy at 12.45, we were let straight in to security, it was pouring rain. Airport style security, no electronics/liquids/cosmetics allowed in and passport required for id. Detailed to go to the right and up the ramp, where a officer is waiting he gives you a ticket and you take a seat of the right. We were told to watch the electronic board for our number and go to desk stated. There were 2 other K1 applicants there 2 guys on their own. 1 ahead of us and 1 after us. There are several numbered windows. after about 40 mins we were called to window 4 to pay for visa $240 International bank draft, told to sit back down and we would be called again! Irish guy was taking the money, he is friendly! After about another 40 mins we were called back to same window and same guy and ask to give our docs,he tells you what order, Passport, 156k with 2 photos(you sign that in front of him and fill in your fiance's name), birth cert, medical, police clearance, in my case then past marriage cert and divorce papers then the I-134 and all supporting financial info and finally the envelope with €12.50 postage on it(they are fussy about the size it needs to be big a s you whole file has to fit it it). This is the envelope you DO NOT OPEN, he tells you that several times. He told us that we must get married within 90 days of entering the USA. He asked had we proof of relationship in case the CO requested it, i said ' nearly a whole forest worth', he laughed. They do not take your xray, but tell you to carry it for POE. In my case we had to do all that over again for my daughter so it took longer than usual. He then said go sit down and the CO will call you for your interview soon!(about 40mins lasped)

The guy in front of us had some trouble with his envelope,I had extra with me so i was able to help there. He got called for his interview 1st. Now everyone in the room can hear what you are being asked and what you answer, so no privacy, that is a little off putting and you stand for the interview at another window. The guy ahead of us got a grilling he called his fiance his girlfriend and the CO (A woman)jumped all over his case, she asked him for all kinds of proof, which he didn't seem to have much of and he was told he would have to send in the required info before he would get his visa, think he has 2wks to get it in. He left reasonably happy!!! We were next, all 3 of us went up, the lady was American of Indian origin. She told us to raise our right hands and swear that all the info we had given and were about to give was the whole truth, we of course said yes. Tommy asked should he stay or go and she said by all means stay. She then took my fingerprints, then Chana's. She then asked us to confirm our names, asked had we any convictions or any overstays in the USA and then asked the following 1. What was my medical condition ( I have a eye disease, she said it was fine)2. When did we meet(she asked Tommy that) 3. What web site 4. when did we meet in person 5. When was my 1st marriage and my divorce 6. Did we see each other often 7.Had we any children together 8. Where do you live that was asked to Tommy 9. Where and when did he propose and did he give me a 'big rock' (she asked to see it and said 'wow that nearly blinded me', and laughed andshe chatted about Central Park for a few mins. She then asked could she ask Chana a few questions as she is 14, we said sure, and she asked her 1. was she married or promised to anyone(as it can happen in some cultures), i thought that a bit strange being Ireland but there you go! 2. Are you happy with your new future step dad.No extra proof of relationship was asked for. Then she said all was good and that we could expect our visa's in 6 days, and that we had 6mths to enter the States from the date of visa she also told us about the DO NOT OPEN envelope and that passport would be in a separate envelope. She gave us a receipt and said we were all set!! We left the Embassy at 3.40pm very happy people.

Again i over heard some stuff from the other guy, and it is important that all documents are original and signed, no photocopy of signatures accepted. Medical must be sealed. Photos must be 2x2 in size and 2 is definitely required. Lots of proof of relationship is needed but may or may not be asked for. The envelope is to be self addressed and postage on it, make sure it is big!!

We met the guy that was after us outside and he too has to send back extra financial stuff, so he was not approved on the day, out of 3 interviews only we got approved there and then, Thank the Lord!

Organise your stuff so it easy to get at, space at desk is limited, and bring a pen.

All the staff were friendly and nice, though some of the security staff at the gate are a little less friendly, but i guess that is their job!

Hope this helps, and Best wishes to all future Interviews.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
