Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 15, 2012
Embassy Review : My fiancee went to Guangzhou on the 9th of December for a interview date of the 13th. She did the medicals there and these went smoothly.
December 12, document entry went well, after all the nervous tension of her going through all the paperwork, making sure everything was signed, copies of documents there, it was finally coming to an end. My fiancee was prepared, she made three different folders, one for all the documents that were needed for the visa, a file for the past application documents, and a file for photos. There were 156 photos, 100 pages of chat logs from QQ,and about 30 emails that she had ready. She was nervous and would go to the Embassy each day to look at the process and the lines in front of the Embassy to get a feel of the process. The process only took her a short time, not an issue for her. She did get a green dot on her paperwork, which she did not know why. She asked and was told they were for the people who were elderly or had children. None of these applied to her, so now we were still confused.
On the day of interview, she arrived to wait in line at 7:30am. I asked her to call me when the interview was over as I did not go to China to be with her. At 8:20am,I recieved her call, she was done with her interview, she was very happy.
The interview lasted less than two minutes and was asked only 5 questions:
Who helped you with the visa application?
Where is your fiance?
How did you meet?
Does he have children?
Are you a member of CCP?
The interviewer was polite and spoke english slow and clear, this helped her as she was nervous of her english. I kept telling her English is not a requirement to be in the US, but she does not believe me.
After the five questions, the man said, "ok, you passed" My fiancee asked if he wanted to see the pictures and he said "no, I beleieve you"
It was a good experience for her and she is now waiting for the passport back to make flights to come to Orlando and we will get married.
I want to thank VisaJourney and all the people with the knowledge we have gained, it has taken a lot of pressure off of not knowing what to do, as now I believe no lawyer was needed.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
