Comments : Today I was approved. We had our interview at 8:30am in Newark, NJ.

We waited 30 mins outside the building in the security line and arrived at the 14th level at 8am and checked in. We were called in at 9am.

The interviewing officer was a very polite women in her early 30's. Our interview lasted for 10 mins and we weren't required to submit any documentation, which was disappointing because we had prepared so much. All the officer requested was the originals of the marriage certificate, our birth certificates, passports, drivers licenses and my social security card. She didn't ask to see my EAD card nor keep it after the interview.

My wife (USC) was asked to verify her name, maiden name, address and parents names. I was asked the same questions as my wife plus the yes/no questions, my last address outside the US, the POE where I last entered, what other visas I have and she queried my intentions when I last entered because I adjusted from a B-2. She then gave me a letter saying no further documentation is required and said I should get my green card in 1-2 weeks. This afternoon I got the approval and card production email.

I was amazed that we were never asked about our relationship, our wedding, how we met or for any documentation. This was also the first occurrence I have heard of intention coming up in the interview!

Oath Ceremony : 2018-01-18
Comments : My interview was only 15 mins and the interviewer was very direct but professional. No pleasantries were exchanged but they were incredibly busy so I can understand the need to get through all the applicants. My interview was at 8:15am in Newark, I didn't need to submit any additional support or passport photos, just presented my greencard, passport and drivers license. Test consisted of:

1. Which group were brought to the US as slaves?
2. Who is the VP?
3 Number of amendments to the Constitution?
4. Who creates laws?
5. Why did we fight the British?
6. What is the highest court?

Read: What was the first state?
Write: Delaware was the first state.

Asked yes/no questions and signed forms on an iPad.

The ceremony was very nice, introduction from the USCIS staff, stood for the national anthem, then we watched a video, called out each country and applicants from that country stood up (38 total in my ceremony), said the oath of allegiance (right hand in the air), welcome video from the President, said the pledge of allegiance (right hand over heart), concluded and took photos.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
