Embassy Review : |
From what my fiancee has told me, her interview was very positive, quick, and painless. The only negative thing she had to say was that it was a little chilly inside the embassy, so be prepared. Nevertheless, all the consular personnel were cordial and professional.
She arrived for the 8AM appointment a little after 7 where a line was already beginning to form. She continued to wait in this line until they started letting people in (approximately 10 min to 8AM). First stop was verification of appointment/security. After passing through this, she was directed to the document/turn-in window where she gave the clerk all the required documents for both the petitioner and beneficiary which we were all listed on the US Embassy Moscow website for K1 applicants. She didn't mention anything about fingerprinting, but I suspect this was done as well. She then had a seat and waited for her name to be called for the interview with the consular officer. The waiting area was directly in front of the interview windows so she could see both the consular officers going through envelopes which held case files. This day, there were two; one male and one female. About 10AM, her name was called by the male consular officer and she gathered herself, took a deep breath and walked up to his interview window. She said he was a younger gentleman who was very cordial. He began the interview in Russian where he swore her in(affirmation oath), and then switched to English. This was not a problem for my fiancee as she is fluent. Now for the questions asked:
1. What is your fiance's name?
2. Where does he live?
3. What does he do for work?
4. When did you meet? Describe this first meeting.
5. How many times have you met since?
6. How many times has he been to Russia?
7. Has he met your family?
8. When did you last meet?
9. When and where did he propose?
10. How did you feel about this proposal?
11. How do you communicate?
12. Do you have any more pictures and correspondence between the two of you?
13. Does he speak Russian?
I know it seems like a lot of questions, but almost all of them were what she expected. She said it was really quick, and being prepared helped out a great deal. After the last question, the consular officer said, "Congratulations, your Visa is approved. Your passport and Visa will be sent via Pony express to the address you listed within the week." She then, said "Thank you, I am very happy." The whole process for her, from arrival to departure from the embassy was a little over two hours. Awesome! javascript:emoticon('')
I hope this embassy review helps and good luck to all who have interviews in the future.javascript:emoticon('') |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
