Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 31, 2012
Embassy Review : Our story:
My fiancé and I met when we were growing up in a small town, Delta State, Nigeria back in 1993. We lived in the same street as neighbors and became family friends.
In 1997 as a teen he left for the US as He is a Citizen and right then I was an infant. We reconnected in 2009 and met personally in Nov. 2010 and our romance began and here we are
First and foremost I want to give God praise for He proved His faithfulness again! And to all my wonderful friends on VJ u guys are the best God bless y’ all. Was a worthwhile experience at this Phase one of the Journey.
Interview 29th March 2012:
Before the Interview I had printed out all the necessary and unnecessary forms…lol cos I didn’t want to take chances…lol. My baby couldn’t make it because of work and He was in Nigeria like few weeks ago.
So His mom had to come down. Travelled to Lagos with His mom a day before because I don’t Live/work in Lagos, it wasn’t really easy though. My appointment was scheduled for 7:15am but u wont believe we got to the embassy 4:15am. OMGosh!! Its was so funny we were the second persons to get there. We waited and lots of people started coming till about 5am and I didn’t regret coming so early at all cos it really calmed down my nerves .
A lady came and made an announcement to open all sealed envelopes: X-ray and the envelope bearing ur Med report. We were arranged according to ur visa type(Immigrant Vs Non-immigrant), and according to scheduled time. The Non-immigrants where called first. For Immigrants There were very few 6:30am hence I was no 4.
We were ushered in the first gate was asked to present my Packet 4(appointment letter + the email the embassy sent for my reschedule) and then also because I paid my visa fee at the bank(GTB) I presented my receipt of payment. They stamped it and gave me a white and a pink slip….Went through a security check cos I had a very big bag filled with evidences so people teased me because of it but I wasn’t moved.
Then enter another gate and got to a point where my bag was scanned and to a door that leads to the interview room where I was asked what type of visa, there on a machine I pressed B and I was given a LUCKY NUMBER B422 .
My Experience inside
This was around 7:20am and then I waited till my number flashed at window 16…. My name was called and a pretty/nice lady asked for and collected Just the necessary forms DS 156 already signed & DS 156k NOT signed, Original n a Photo copy of my birth Certificate,my Intl Passport, photo passport,my fiancé’s Letter of employment, His tax returns, Affidavit of Support, W2, My Police Report , Medical result, and that was all. Went back to my seat and sat for like an 1hr 10min because the number comes randomly not serially. For us: the immigrants there were just 5 COs and only a Female( people wished not to go to the female) Gosh!! They were all so serious and none of them smiled at all, especially one male. The one that approved just very few people was so calm, never smiles but people preferred him though, me inclusive. There was also bald male CO that takes almost an hr to interview an applicant...lol. I couldn’t see the Female CO but could hear her denial everyone who was at her window 16 so I was becoming nervous but then I said a prayer that helped me.
@ exactly 8:30 FORTUNATELY my number flashed on HER window…. I said JEZ!!! My heart almost skipped at of its position…lol
Then interview started:
She Called my name n made me to swear an oath with my right hand raised, then I scanned my right and then was gonna pull my ENGAGEMENT RING to scan my left she then SMILED n said no don’t worry about ur ring it won’t interfere with your prints… and also said my RING is beautiful! Awe…..
At that point my heart screamed Hallelujah it was then my heart beat became normal again…..Hahaha
She asked:

Who filed for you?
How did u guys meet and how long? WHEN I SAID SINCE 1993 SHE SAID WOO THEN U WHERE STILL AN INFANT?
When did he travel back to the STATES?
When last did he visit?
How did he engage u and what did he say? Simple questions
What does he do for a living
Where does he work,live?
How many hrs does he drive to work
SHE said from what I haVE seen u guys talk virtually everyday what do u guys talk abt? Thanks to my LOVE he did a nice job, organized n sent them evidences as at when he filed such as our call logs, chats, pics, emails, the CO commended him!
SHE smiled while I gave her my answers; YAY! I also was giving her lots of sweet/cute smiles and with so much confident, looking straight into her eyes as I answered….
She was so fast in asking n I responded fast too while that happens she kept on
typing on her computer.
Asked again was there any FORMAL CEREMONY or ENGAGEMENT PARTY or ANY OF SUCH?? Very IMPORTANT QUESTION, SO i SAID NO there wasnt!!!!! I didnt give more anwers BECAUSE She didnt further ask.
Then She asked for our pic together and I dragged out our large sized photo album n she said WOW so much u have there! She said definitely u can’t pass it through to me, so could u please flip thru it?
We had arranged it in a very sweet/interesting manner which I described for her quickly, first was both of us, 2nd was when he visited my work place in Feb. and we took together with my boss and she said wow, others with His dad cos his dad visited with him in FEB 2012, with my dad, and she said OKAYYYYYYY I WILLLLLLLLLL DEFINITELY GIVE U A VISA…….. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! U re APPROVED. GOODLUCK LOVE BIRDS!!! THEN ISSUED ME A WHITE SHEET WITH ADD. OF WHERE TO PICK UP MY VISA….
Hmmmm She couldn’t have gone thru all cos they were over 300pics of us together with family and friends……Whew!
She DIDN’T ask for WEDDING PLANS,ENGAGEMENT RECEIPTS, EMAILS,LETTERS,BB CHAT LOGS,Y MSGNR CHAT,CALL LOGS,FB CHATS AND POSTS,FLIGHT TICKETS,MY LETTER OF EMPLOYMENT, MY XRAY,MY FIANCE’S BIRTH CERT., HIS PHOTO COPY OF INTL PASSPORT SHOWING ALL HIS TRIPS + E-TICKETS and lol I had all with me. Please come with all if u can incase they need ‘em

In the end was like 8mins was so so fast and even when we said a lot, she was so nice there wasn’t any argument b/w both of us. Came out from the gate @ about 8:48am….yay!!!
I hope my review will help a lil pls see below for more info:

Advice
1. Please newbies never you feel too shy to ask questions no matter how stupid u feel it is.
2. Always visit this site, am an example, This site was like my second home…lol . Was very helpful! Looked out for Recent topics, past experiences and I repeat ask questions.
3. Please NOTE cell phone, sharp objects, make-ups, hand bags is NOT allowed
4. U may not have enough time so just staple or glue your passport to Form DS 156 and sign before coming to the embassy please with recent dates. Don’t sign on the 156k CO will ask u to sign when the time comes.
6. U may choose to pay in the bank provided it was instructed in your packets 3 or bring it(VISA FEE) with you on your interview day. When going to the bank take with you your intl\' passport they may ask for it and then u ll provide ur passport number.
5. Enough evidences is very important it pushes off more questions, red flags and stand on ur words/answers cos they could repeatedly ask u similar questions to be sure u telling the truth.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
