POE Review: CDN-USA Border
Event Description
Entry Date : 02/05/12
Embassy Review : We crossed the border at the Buffalo,NY.location on Sunday 02/05/12 around 10:45 am. We pulled into one of the stations/lines told the border officer we were here to activate the K-1 VISA. He took our Passports (both of us). We were directed to park in a specific area. Several border agents came over to our vehicle. They asked us the usual questions regarding what are we were bringing over the border:food items, valuables or weapons etc. We had a list of the items but they didn't want or ask to see the list even after I offered it to them. They simply looked under the tarp of my truck at the items we were bringing, went through the console/glovebox and that was about it. We then were directed to a specific building for the paperwork processing of the K-1 visa. We got a number/ticket and then waited in the lobby to be called about 30 min. went by. Our number was called, we went to a bank teller style of window or counter. The border officer was very nice & helpful. He took my Fiancee's biometrics/fingerprints, her sealed packet from the Montreal consulate, went throught it and even told us what steps to do next, which we already knew. I told him how I knew what to do because of this web site. He knew of it and said it is a great place for help in the visa process - how true. He looked at my passport and hers gave me mine back after verifing who I was.
Her paper work was completed stamped & signatures etc. She was given her I-94 stamp/card in her passport. We left and were on our way all in about 1 hour total time. It was a very staightfoward and easy process all because of this site and all of your help. I hope that this helps out any others who might cross here. Good luck to all and God bless you in your journey !!!!
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
