Hi there,
(Im hoping my review will help those seeking more information, as i know how stressful this process can be)
Well here is how my interview went.....
I stayed at the hotel across the street from the embassy, which gave me easy access to the embassy and they are really not that expensive considering the area.
At 12:30 i waited outside the embassy, they have chairs there where you are welcome to wait. At exactly 1 pm they tell everyone to form a line, you are asked to show your passport a swell as your interview letter. (no, sharp hair pins, usb flash drives,laptops or ipads are allowed inside)
Once you enter you go through security one by one...
you enter the next building where you will be seated either infront of window 10 or 11.
Now you wait till your surname (last name) is called. Once you are called the person asks you any missing documents you did not submit, as well as a few questions:
- Passport photos( even though i had submitted ones , they wanted new one's)
- Police certificates ( origional - you dont get them back)
- Husband's name?
- Date of Birth?
- Has he been to my country?
- have i given the medical in?
Then after the person goes through all your documents, you are asked to be seated again....
Once the consuler is ready they call you up to either window 10 or 11 (be prepared for everyone to hear your conversation. They ask you to raise your right hand, and swear to tell the truth.
Questions:
- Where was your husband born?
- How did you meet?
- Where did you meet?
- When did you meet?
- Has he visted you?
- Then they wanted evidence,( i had two arch files and was ready for that,
- I gave them , emails, phone records , skype and photos, even though i had more, they did not want to see it.
That was it, ...
Asked wheter i wanted it DHL or whether i would like to pick up my visa myself, i decided to stay an extra night in the hotel, and after just two days , i am happy to say i have the visa in my hand, and im going home to my husband!!!!
side not and advice:
- Get those Police certificates done, they are valid for one year and takes 2 months for South Africa and 4 months for Namibia, you can get them done in advance.
- Make an effort and read as much information online as possible, everycase is diffrent, you never know what they might asked. they asked me for evidence that was not on the letter , so be prepared for the unexpected.
- I had 2 big files , and i got approved, i saw some people got denied....
- Be truthful with everything, they study your case before you have the interview...
