Very nice POE experience. The officer was very nice and friendly. The process was fast and easy. The officer with last name, Knowlton, just an amazing officer and funny guy. He even asked more questions to my fiance rather than to me. My fiance and I went to USC-Alien Resident line. So my advise is, get your fiance with you at immigration lines. You'll go to USC line instead. |

*I did not see post decision activity on my EAD status. It was just jumped into card production. So I assumed card production is also my EAD approval's date.
*on August 29th, 2014, USCIS mailed my EAD card. It took more than a week for an updated whereas some members got theirs very quick.
*On September 2nd 2014, I received my EAD card via mail |

Embassy Review : |
Even though my interview was scheduled at 12.30, but my fiance and I arrived 2,5 hours earlier. I did not want to take a risk missed my an appointment because of traffic in Jakarta at worst when raining all day.
My fiance was disappointed we had waited for 2,5 hours outside while raining seems never end. But I've already told him about that and he said the embassy could've something where people can go there take a shelter. I just was worried about my medical result got wet.
The female security guard suggested go to get some coffee or eat something. But I told her, I won't go anywhere. There was a poor guy they did not let him in just because he was late 5 minutes from his actual appointment. I insisted will stay around the embassy. She then told us go to below train bridge for a shelter. Not too far from the gate which my fiance and I agreed to go.
Finally, they allowed us go inside. The other security guard female asked my an appointment letter and told her very clear that the US embassy allow my fiance comes in with me.
The first room, we had to give all electronic devices. I gave them my BlackBerry and my fiance's bag. In the next, we passed by the waiting area and proceed go to Immigrant Visa at Window 5.
The room almost empty. Only my fiance, me, and some other woman who was doing a K visa as well. I heard a lot about the lady at Window 5 and if this is a same person, I don't she was as bad as people thought.
She called people who are doing K visas and whoever go the window first will get serve first. I saw the girl that K visa applicant started collecting her documents and I just grabbed the documents and standing in front of the Window 5.
She asked my passport, DS 160 form, affidavit of support, tax return, and W2. She did not even bother looked on bank statements, paychecks, stocks, life insurance at all that my fiance provided.
After that she asked my passport photocopy which I said did not have it. She did not say anything and continued to proceed the application. In fact, she apologized that I had wait a bit longer.
She asked me go to window 6 to paid visa fee. It is around Rp 3.000.000 and the cashier told me go take a seat and wait until they call my name. The other girl that doing K visa actually got snap from this lady. Because she gave documents that the lady did not ask.Oops.
After waited more than an hour, finally some guy called my name and told me go to Window 1. It is a small room and there were 2 guys standing behind the Window 1.
I could hear their discuss my visa and surprised they did not know I heard their conversation. Before interview,I had a feeling about approval based from what conversations they made. The older guy told the young one that my case is straight forward, not complicated. They also discussed my B2 visa refusal back on 2010.
I also heard he mentioning about vaccination but did not clear for this part. That was amazed me, he was talking to the guy about my job. He said, in my case I'm not typical a greend card chaser since I have a great job ( I am an editor at one of news outlets in Indonesia). I think the young guy is on training for his job.
He started asking me a few questions and wondering if I had a breakfast and I said yes but still bit nervous. He then said just relax.
These the questions he asked me:
*Tell me how you met your fiance?
*How you call your fiance's name?
*When it was happened? and where he was lived?
*when you met in person? year, date, place
*will your family come for the wedding?
*Where your fiance currently lives now?
*Where you'll have the wedding?
*When the last time you met your fiance?
He spoke to the younger guy again. This time I did not focus what they were talking about. I almost burst into tears because I saw the white slip on his left hand. He then told me my K visa is approved and asked me to get my fiance inside the room. He said congratulations for both of us and thanked to my fiance for serving the country (my fiance is in the military). He then told us to pick up the passport with visa on January 24, 2014.
I couldn't ask more for the better consular officer. He was really nice, friendly, and made me relax. I cried and hugged my fiance in front of these guys. I said, wish could shake their hands to thank. He said, it is okay and smiled at us. We left the embassy and I wear a big happy smile on my face.
Tips:
*Look through their eyes when talking
*Keep smiling and make the conversation have a bit lighter
*Say thank you whenever they do something good
*Well organized the folder. I did not bring many kilograms papers, pictures, or chat logs. We were more focus to provide the financial support which my fiance way above poverty guidelines. He provided me bank statements for his saving, stock and bonds, life insurance, private insurance, and paycheck.
*Bring your fiance to the interview. I had him with me and when I told them my fiance with me and case closed. I got approved.

Super easy. Some officer told us go to USC-Alien Resident line after he saw my fiancé and I standing together. When we stepped in to the immigration line, the officer named Knowlton was really friendly and nice. He asked my packet, talking to my fiancé, took my picture, and finger prints. He did not asked me many questions in fact enjoyed short chats with my fiancé, |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
