Consulate Review: Nigeria
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 18, 2011
Embassy Review : First let me say that I have been holding out writing a review so I could speak to my fiancé and get MORE DETAILED information to give here but he has been very busy and traveling since the interview so I still have not been able to speak to him for an extended amount of time and get all I would like. Therefore, I no longer want to wait in case something here can be used in some small way for someone

He arrived at the embassy VERY EARLY. He called me at 11:30PM EST, 5:30AM Naija time, and I could tell there were already other people there as he was talking very low and NOT wanting others to hear. His appointment/interview time was 7AM. The next call I got was at 4:45AM EST, 10:45AM Naija time, but the noise was so loud from traffic & horns beeping in the back ground and the call was dropped. The next time I spoke to him was 5:30 AM EST and he told me he was approved and began reading the customary where to pick up your visa letter. The following is what he said happened and a list a questions he was asked….

In HIS words, “The interview was damn hard and the guy grilled him” … He (my fiancé) told me that the way the man was questioning him made him nervous at first but that he remained calm & confident as he answered his questions.

QUESTIONS ASKED ABOUT ME(Petitioner)

Who is the petitioner?
Why are you going to the states?
Where does your fiancée live?
When did your fiancée move from California?
Does she work?
What does she do for a living?
Who did the support of affidavit? (I HAD A CO-SPONSOR)
Where does your Co-sponsor work?
What does your Co-sponsor do for a living?
What is you & your fiancée age difference? (He told them his age and then my age)
When was the last time you spoke to your fiancée?
Does your fiancée have children?
Where does your fiancée’s children live?
Have you talk to your fiancee’s children?
What do you talk about with your fiancee’s children?

QUESTIONS ASKED ABOUT MY FIANCE(Beneficiary)

Where do you work?
How much do you earn monthly?
Is Ghana your residence?
Why are you living in Ghana?
Who pays your house rent?

Then the CO asked to see our phone records and my fiancé pulled out the two big brown envelopes with home & cell phone records for his review. The CO then asked to see the photo album. My fiancé showed him the photo album and as he showed him some photos he said the CO asked, “WHO the OTHER people were in the photos and WHERE we were when we took the photos?”

After this he said he was given a piece of paper telling him to come on December 23, 2011 to pick up his visa.

AND NOW OUR JOURNEY FINDING OUR WAY BACK TO ONE ANODA WILL END AND OUR STORY/LIFE CAN BEGIN
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
