Consulate Review: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 13, 2012
Embassy Review : Quick background: 5 visits within 2 years, each time I stayed for about a week to 2 weeks. I filled out all the paper work by myself but also use Marc Ellis to consult and prepared us for the interview. The day before the interview. Marc Ellis and Mr. Nam's office put together the package for us.
Package 1 included: DS230 Part I
Police cert.
My fiance' single cert.
Both of our copies and original birth cert.
Copy of my front page's passport.
Visa form( I forgot the name, where you have to fill
online and print it out).
Visa's fee receipt.

Package 2 included: The usual evidence from us (pictures, phone and chat logs, money transfer to support her.....)

If you prepare your packages like that, it will makes thing go smoother. I've seen people at the consulate with unorganized stack of paper work, and when they asked for a piece of paper, it's difficult to find it.

Our interview was a 9:30 am. We showed up a 8:45. There was a line outside to get in the consulate. Once we go through security, there is another line for finger print (note that, if you're interview at a later time and you show up early in the morning, you won't get the finger prints done any quicker. There are lines for specific time of interview, 8:30, 9:00.....so showing up early just create more stress for you. The waiting room wasn't climate controlled. It was pretty hot in there.
After the finger print, we got a sequence #. We waited for about 30 minutes then we were called up and gave them package #1 which contained all legal documents they asked for on this interview. After they received our documents, they asked us to sit down again. This time it was so intense. We saw lots of blues and only a few pink. I saw one couple that got blue and it made me scratch my head why they received blue...
Finally, it was our turn for the interview around 11:10. It was a middle age woman around 45s. She was very pleasant to talk to. I forgot to ask for her name ( I was nervous as heck). But after a few small talk about the weather and where I'm from. I gained my confidence and was able to smile and joke with her.
She asked my fiance through a translator with questions below:
1. How did we meet?
2. What do I do for a living

Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
