Consulate Review: Jamaica
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 12, 2012
Embassy Review : I arrived at the interview by 8am but didn't proceed to enter the embassy until 8:15. When I arrived I went to the front of the line that had formed and asked for the immigrant interview, the line outside was for the non-immigrant visa. I left all electronics and only walked with my folder and album. I reached inside by 8:29 and was told to go to the right for the immigrant section. Inside was already full. I had to stand for 15mins before I received a seat. After sitting for 2hours I was called to the 1st window where they took my finger prints and medical results. Then I had a seat again. They call the numbers randomly but what i observed is that the same order in which you do your prints, is the same order that they will call you for the interview. I also realise that the blue/yellow/green sheets are written up before you go to be interviewed, so most times if you are missing something they will know before hand and start writing up the sheets, you will then be interviewed and then they will tell you to come back with the missing documents.

Anyway back to the interview, I then waited another hour before I was called up. My number didn't flash the CO just went for my file and called me up. He was looking on me for awhile. He forgot to swear me in and had asked a couple question then the swear in occurred. This is what I was asked

Is your husband in the marines
what is his rank
where is he now
have he even been deployed before
when will he be deployed
where will I be living
if i know anybody in north Carolina
if we have a child together
if I have his birth certificate and passport
was the child passport issued in Jamaica at this consulate.
if I have ever been in the US.

That was it, he then tore the slip and told me to make arrangements at the DHL counter.

By the time I was being interviewed I wasn't even nervous any more because I was so hungry and thirsty by then. I just wanted to leave and go home.

When I proceeded to the DHL I had another wait about 30mins again, a lot of individuals got there visa on that day. The reality hasn't set in as yet. I am yet to experience the excitement. I also bought my plane ticket as well. So probably i will be excited on that day

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
