First petition attempt was mailed on November 4, 2017. Since we had been engaged for over a year and a half, an older version of the I-129F had been filled out and mailed off. It was denied based on that. Everything was returned with an explanation that also said "place this on top when you re-mail your petition with the right version of the form".
RFE: Asked for passport style photo of USC and proof of citizenship. Both had been sent with the original petition but must have been misplaced.

RFIE text received 3/29/2019 at 6:15pm CST
RFIE hard copy was delivered on April 3. A copy of the Birth Certificate in the original non-English language was asked for. Beneficiary was born in England and there is no non-English version of the BC. Sent new copy with statement of how because the original is in English there is no translation.

RFIE response was delivered to the NBC in Missouri on 4/4/2019. RFIE Received text received at 9:45pm CST on 4/5/2019. Mail arrived quickly due to proximity of the NBC to our apartment.
After working with my congressman's office due to USCIS error (see above thread for RFIE), the AOS case was expedited to our LFO. Within a week the interview was ready to be scheduled (6-19-2019) and less than a week later the interview was scheduled (6-25-2019).
Received interview date 06/29/2019 for 08/06/2019 at 10:30am at the KCFO.
Interview lasted approx 20mins, interviewer was friendly and just asked us to confirm that the i-485 questions were still true. Only change he made was the beneficiary's job. He stated at the end of the interview 'I'm definitely going to recommend you for approval'. (08/06/2019).

I purposely picked Philadelphia as my POE because I've had years of experience flying and connecting through there, and I always have a pleasant experience through customs & immigration. Whilst Chicago would have been easier, I wanted to go with the option that seemed 'friendlier'. Flights booked from Manchester to Philadelphia via Reykjavik with Icelandair (Cheapest 1 way carrier), with a very short 90min layover onto American Airlines domestic from Philly to Kansas City. When I arrived around 7pm, Customs & Immigration had 0 line, I went straight to the desk via the American Citizen line (I asked the TSA agent which line and she said either was fine). I greeted the agent, explained I was entering on a K1 visa intending to marry a citizen, he asked for my envelope so I handed it to him, did my fingerprints and then a colleague took me over to the office, asking how my flights were, if I was excited for my wedding (of course yes!). He yelled at the lady at the desk 'We got another Brit running away with our ladies' in a joking manner, to which the lady responded 'mmhmm'. You could tell there was an actual good atmosphere when around the agents, which put me at ease. The lady asked me when I intended to get married, then handed my passport and wished me luck. The entire process from fingerprints to collecting baggage was just 5 minutes. If I could rate philly better than 0 I really would. I was worried about nothing. |

Had my i-485 interview here on 08/06/2019 and was scheduled for 10:30am. We showed up quite early, went through the usual airport style security and made our presence known with the agent at 9:50am. We were called up early at approximately 10:05am. The guy who interviewed us was friendly and considerate, not at all like I was expecting. He mainly asked to confirm answers I gave on my i-485 application. The only change he made was my employment (my EAD/AP had arrived and I had a job in the US now). When we were done going over the information we had given, he noticed we had our photo book with us and smiled, asking us if he could see. He stated his favourite part of the day was seeing people's stories, and we were more than happy to oblige. He recommended we be approved on the spot, and the LPR card arrived on the morning of 08/10/2019, just days after our interview. On the whole, the experience at the Kansas City Field Office was friendly, efficient and smooth throughout. I had the same good experience during an InfoPass meeting back in May. I would recommend this Field Office. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
