Comments : Now I am a US Citizen, I can write this without fear of retribution. This was almost 4 years ago and while I have no names, I can remember the officer I dealt with VERY clearly. She thought it necessary to LECTURE me on changing my sons name without even asking why I had - there was a perfectly valid reason for it and anyway, it is none of her business. She refused to believe that UK citizens can change their names without going through a court. So instead of looking at the UK government website she looked it up on WIKIPEDIA! I was disgusted but of course I had to just suck it all up and smile sweetly while she unleashed a torrent of verbal nonsense on how I should never have changed my sons name as it would 'confuse him'. To this day I am still furious at the despicable treatment I received at Charleston. I didn't change his name on his passport before we moved but I did take the Deed Poll certificate and she refused to accept it. Now I have to go through a US court to get it changed here. Ridiculous.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
