Event Description
Review Date : December 4, 2016
Embassy Review : We arrived a little early, went through security and the officer put our letter in the 'inbox' and told us to wait in the waiting area. Our one year old played at the kiddies station. There weren't too many people waiting and one or two couples also had young children with them.
09:30 comes by and we're called. The IO was pleasant throughout the whole process. She said we'd provided excellent evidence with our file and all she needed was a copy of our Son's birth certificate - I had copies of everything plus originals. She wrote down my SSN and then went down her list of questions. Asked my husband about dates and laughed at his pickle of answers since he's terrible with dates but he knew my D.O.B. which she said was good enough. She was literally double checking we knew what was written on the forms.
After those she asked when and where we first met, how many times I'd visited - we explained the year gaps due to deployments and she was happy with that - and asked about why we had so many addresses on file. Hubby being a contractor satisfied her on that point.
The questioning lasted maybe 10 minutes before she said she was happy with us and explained what I should do with my SSN card to get the writing removed and that I'd receive a 10 year card rather than a 2 year as we've been married over 3 years.
There wasn't anything uncomfortable about the interview. We brought everything she had, plus originals, and there wasn't any issue with our Son being present. He's 1, American and we didn't know anybody well enough to leave him for a day. Yakima FO is over 100 miles away from where we were but it was the closest. There was also no mention of my overstay. I'd been here 3 years and 10 months at the time of interview.

All in all it was a breeze and a big weight lifted.
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
