Consulate Review: Argentina Review Topic: K1 Visa Event Description Review Date : September 1, 2011 Embassy Review : Our experience was actually quite pleasant given the situation behind what had happened with our K-1 Visa early in August but here's the run down... Our interview was scheduled for 2PM but because we were unsure of what the traffic was going to be like we left at 12:30PM and ended up arriving at around 1PM. Security was no big deal though they had a major interest in an item I had (a special credit card wallet) but when they realized it was not electronic it was fine. Despite the fact we arrived rather early the receptionist allowed us in anyway. We submitted the paperwork we brought with us and the nice gentleman we were dealing with had some slight issues with my fiance's birth certificate (it was made in the 1970s before the government change). We sat for about 2 hours because a few other applicants for immigration visas ran into some snags. One guy who was born outside of Capital Federal forgot to get the Ministry of Interior stamp on his birth certificate and some forgot some evidence. We were both very nervous given the events that had transgressed earlier in the month with DHS so we did not know what to expect. They called us in (they have 2 chairs now) and the woman interviewing us was quite pleasant. The interview took about 8 minutes and we were approved. My fiance relinquished her passport and we were told to go pay the DHL fee. After jumping in joy they called us back in because the Consul forgot to stamp the B1/B2 visa she had (she had another passport with it) with a "Cancelled without Prejudice" on it. Thankfully the DHL line had no one in it (when we arrived there were at least 100 people). We paid the fee and went home. All and all the people employed at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires are extremely friendly and very helpful. Rating : Very Good
