Embassy Review : |
Our appointment was at 9:00 am so we arrived at the embassy at 8:45am. You go directly to window 1, without going in the line for tourist visas. We don’t know exactly the waiting times but, after giving us folder in which to organize our papers, taking our prints and going through security, we were sitting waiting by 9am. We left the embassy exactly at 11:00am. Only 2 hours for the whole process! =)
We waited about 25-30 minutes to get called in (by last name) to give the first woman our papers. When we received the email with the interview date, they told us we were missing some papers from Packet 3: An original DS-156 form (we thought we had to send a copy and bring the 2 originals for interview, but I guess not), The confirmation from DHL saying we had picked a location, and the birth entry (which we had not legalized for packet 3). So she asked us for these 3 things, plus the medical envelope, made me sign a form, and asked for some passport type pictures. Then we had to go to a window and pay the fee and then we waited again for about an hour to get called. I guess they go through your forms and medical right there so we were thinking how crazy it was that someone was deciding our future just a room away!
So finally we get called for the interview. The lady was very nice and because it was Monday she was having some trouble with her Spanish so we suggested to switch to English. She asked 1) How did you 2 meet? 2) Can you tell me about the engagement? 3) How does your family feel about you moving? 4) What made you decide to get married now? (This is probably because we have been dating for like 7 years!)
We told her our meeting/engagement stories, told her my parents are probably coming to the wedding and gave our reasons for getting married and moving to the states and she said “well everything looks good, your visa is approved..” and then she said a few more things but we were too excited to understand anything else!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
