Consulate Review: Dominican Republic Review Topic: K1 Visa Event Description Review Date : August 19, 2011 Embassy Review : I arrived at the consulate at about 5am. There was already a huge line. When it was time to enter they seperated the women and the men before going though the security. We go in and saw the famous metal benches. They ask non immigrant visa applicants to sit to the right adn immigrant visa applicant to sit to the left. We were called to window 17 (after what seem likea ages) and they colleted all our documents that my fiancee was told to complete in the package. The girl was super nice and informative. She then told us to have a seat while we were called by one of the interviewing Officers. After a couple of hours we were called to window 21. I thought it was a good luck sign since my birthday is on the 21st. Little did I know that this was not my lucky day. So we go and this lady who could barely speak Spanish swears us in. She immediately starts to ask my fiancee questions adn was extremely nice to him and then it was my turn. As soon as she turned to me her whole demeanor changed. It was like I ruined her day! SHe started to ask me my fiancee's DOB, Name of Parents, Name of his daughter, When we met and finally when we formalized our relationsip. As soon as I answered this questions she looks at me in a skeptical manner and asked; " Dont you thing it was a little fast for you guys to become boyfriends?" I replied no. I said the whole point of becoming "Novios" is to continue to get to know each other while being in an exclusive relationship. SHe arched her eyebrow in a sarcastic expression adn didnot hide her disapproval. She then started to ask him where I worked and my title. She asked us if we had children together and after we answered no she then asked if we wanted children we both said yes adn int he future and then my fiancee added that we both needed a boy to have "la parejita". She asked for our pictures. THen pointed at some of then and asked who the lady with me was adn it was his mom. She asked who his best friend was adn i told her the name. She asked if I didnt have pictures with his daughter and I showed her the pics. She then handed me back the picture (i didnt realize that she had kept some of them) and proceeded to tell us to go back adn wait to be called. I asked if she wanted to see the rest ofour paperwork and evidence of relationship and she said NO, return outside and you will be called again. THis lady was not courteaous at all. We then waited on the benches for another hour or two and were called to the dreaded window 11. As soon as we got htei the man came out told my fiancee to enter and for me to wait outside. My fiancee went in with all the paper work adn he questioned him: What is your fiancee's parents name When did you meet When was your first kiss When and where was your first sexual encounter? * After this answer he questioned the veracity and said : dont you think that was too fast? I usually have to wait a few weeks before I can get sex form a women" then my fiancee told him that that was him and the My fiancee was fast acting when he wanted something. Where did you spend new years Where did your fiancee spend New Years Did you guys speak? Who called whom? WHat did she bring you in this trip. What did she bring you in her last trip. What did sshe give you for your birthday? What presents have you given her. Did you call her for her birthday. When was her last trip. When did you give her the engagement ring Where were you how many kids does she have Did she have them naturally or by c section is she on birth control what method. Is she on birth control when she is in US Does she have another partner int he US what is her daughters name and birth date. When was the last time you had sex on her last trip. When was the last time you had sex on this trip Did you take shower this morning? Who took a shower first? Tho whole time he kept ridiculing his answers and telling him he didnt believe him. adn then he brought my fiancee out and brought me in. He asked me my fiancee name? Age? How many children I had? Do I know his daughter's mother? What was her name? What is your fiancee's parents name When did you meet When was your first kiss When and where was your first sexual encounter? Where did you spend new years Where did your fiancee spend New Years? Did you guys speak? Who called whom? Was I on birth control? How did I have my daughter? what is his daughters name and birth date. When was the last time you had sex on her last trip. When was the last time you had sex on this trip Did you take shower this morning? Who took a shower first? He stopped me when he asked about where he spent new years becasue I said " I knwo he was out drinking but I dont remember where" He told me I had to answer adn then proceeded to tell me that I was too young to start loosing my memory. I told him I cant remember everything and I have a very stressfull life so he couldnt judge me without understanding my life and my work. He then told me to stop lying adn if i was ready to tell the truth. I told him I am telling the truth and he continued with the interrogation. He kept questioning my answer adn laughing adn telling me they were not believable and how did I expect him to believe me. At one point I responded to him very sweetly, that if he didnt believe me there was nothign I could do to change his mind but that his opinion didnt change the fact that I was telling the truth. He asked if I was nervous adn I said yes. He asked me why and i told him becasue you are interrogating me like a criminal and you choose not to believe the truth. He told me he was done adn gave me back the pictures. I asked him if he had reviewed allt he evidence becasue it didnt seem fair that he was questioning my relationship without looking at the evidence. He answered that they would and then told us to sit outside. I felt so Angry adn humiliated that I went back adn told him that No matter what his opinion was ,y relationship was real adn that if he looked at our evidence he would see that. He basically dismissed me like whatever go sit down and we left. I had a total breakdown after I left window 11. I was crying adn I just knew everythign had gone downhill. THey had us waiting there for over 4 hours after that. While we were waitign my fiancee goes to the cafeteria to get a drink adn this girl comes out from where window 24 is. She goes to buy a piece of gum adn strikes up a conversation with him adn tells him he looks really good. ASked if i was his girl adn tells him helooks so much better than me and that she couldnt believe he was in love with me. She told him that he was with me for paper. He responded that I was his girl adn that he loved me. That he was woth me becasue he loved me not because of papers. She told him she didnt believe him and that he just wanted a green card. She then headed back to where window 24 was and we never saw her again. She seemed to work for the consulate becasue we never saw her while we were waiting for out number to be called. ( That was humiliating and insulting. He soo does not look better than me. Had to clarify that. lolz) We waited until 4pm and there were only 5 groups left. We were called again to window 21 adn the lady told me they were not approving our visa becasue they determine it is for immigration purposes adn that we presented fraudulant evidence. I asked her what evidence she was talking about since I had been carrying this heavy binder for the whole day adn nobody asked to see it. She said it doesnt matter our interview de termined otherwise. I asked for clarification and she just kept telling me that I would get a letter in the maila and I could appeal if I wanted to. That the letter would take 30 days. She was super rude but I was pissed at that poitn and asked how she could disregard all out evidence that clearly establishes the relationship adn she said just wait until you get the letter int he mail adn it will explain in detail. She again stated while smiling adn lookign skeptical that is we wanted to we could appeal the decision. The case has been sent back to USCIS and they are reviewing it. I am waiting on the letter to file an appeal. Although I understand the need to screen for fraud I was really shocked at the way they treated us. Rating : Very Poor
