Embassy Review : |
I had my interview on 15th August and needless to say, it's finally sinking in that we were approved. Anyway, here goes:
The day started off as any other interview. Turned up on time, left my mobile phone at Gould's and headed to the embassy. It looks like Argos, only with humans instead of boxes. Anyway, after about 2 hours, I was called to hand my papers in at the first window. The guy was ever so pleasant..but that's as far as the niceness of the embassy employees goes. I had what seemed like another 2 hours wait before I was called up again. The CO turned up with my file in one hand and a 221g form in another. My heart sank at that point and I almost gave up because as I put away the papers she gave back, I could see her writing on the form. She questioned me about my citizenship in UK, the discrepancy in my name. This was expected so I calmed down a little and just explained everything to her. At this point, i looked at what she had written on the blue 221g form and it said "evidence of relationship". She then questioned me about my fiance's past and she was almost stunned that I knew abit about his past but told her that I did not wish to question him much about it as his past has nothing to do with me. She then asked me to show her more pictures as she only saw one photo that was sent to her (PLEASE NOTE: IF THEY ASK YOU NOT TO SEND ANYTHING, DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM. JUST SEND WHAT YOU CAN ANYWAY). She flicked through them and even asked me about his family. Then she moved on to the engagement ring and I explained that I was wearing a family heirloom. Alongside this, I showed her a letter written by my MIL to the CO telling them that she had passed on her rings to me. I was questioned about our engagement and she asked me what I was planning on doing when I get there. She then asked me about his religious background and why he converted to Islam. Finally, she took my passport back and went off for what seemed like forever and eventually, upon her return, she decided to approve the visa.
This interview would have been expected had the CO not been so rude whenever she questioned me. Her attitude with me was appalling and had I not been so busy trying to defend our relationship, I would have burst into tears right infront of her. Despite being approved,I feel no need to celebrate until I see my visa. It's been nearly 4 days and everytime I think of the interview, all I see is that 221g form. |
