Embassy Review : |
This was a very easy and laid-back experience. Went in at 11:40, was asked to the interview room at 12:15. IO made it clear in the beginning that we have to go through the interview process simply, because they occasionally have people using fraudulent marriage to enter the country.
Then he asked us to tell about our relationship shortly without going into too much details. After that he asked us to give all the proofs we got that we are together, like wedding pictures, credit cards, bank statements, leases etc. He took a copy of them and came back in a few minutes.
After that he said that he believes that we are in a bona fide marriage and we just need to go over the papers to make sure all the info was correct. This took about half hour.
After that he proceeded to explain that I could apply for a citizenship in 3 years and that I have to keep my green card with me at all times. He also said that when I come to the country from abroad, I have to have the GC with me to be let in. Also, he said that from now on my status is no longer a student, but a spouse of USC. He said I would receive the card in about 10 days, depending whether hs has time to enter the information to the system the same day.
Overall the IO was very nice and he tried to lighten the situation with little jokes and conversation like asking about the weather and things like that. He also had very calming personality and voice, which made us feel more relaxed. I don't know is all the IO's are like that, but we felt like we had him.
If you have any questions or anything, throw me a message. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
