Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 6, 2011
Embassy Review : My interview was on 2nd May, Mumbai consulate, India.
The 1st thing you are asked to do is give the fingerprints in front of the counter, where they also return you all the originals along with all those you have already submitted to the VFS earlier.
I didn't take cell ph with me, heard its hassle to keep it outside& I was alone. The same thing happened with me as someone has once mentioned here in this forum. My draft amount was wrong. The packet 4 said that the exchange rate would be 48 rupees whereas the fee instruction said it would be 47! So I had to go out of the embassy and make a new draft. Fortunately there's Bank of India right beside Mumbai Consulate which opens at 8 am. But I think when I came back to the embassy with the new draft my position in the que got shifted, but that's still ok!

Paper work is the most important thing and if you have that in order, you are less likely to be disapproved unless there is other complications.
They didn't require my police certificate from the police dept. but took the one from the passport office. I had submitted affidavit against birth certificate but you also need a no record certificate along with that ( thanks to krsn for reminding me that).Carrying pics with you is a must & they will ask all candidates for that.
questions-
1.when your fiance went to US?
2. when did he become citizen? how?
3. how did your father in law went their?
4. when was the last time he was here? how many days?
5. when was the last time I was in US? how long? longest visit? why/what purpose?
6. siblings of both of us
7. will my parents go to wedding? what if they can't?
8. where is wedding in US? exactly where?
9. what does he do?
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
