After 90 days (June 2013) we contacted USCIS about missing green card for now 11 year old daughter, and they sent it over after a few days..so we are all done with the lifting of conditions...Next is Naturalization!

Event Description

Embassy Review : Our Appointment for the Interview was at 12pm. We got to the Embassy about 11:45...Others were coming at the same time, but we were the first ones. After going thru security, we received a special number for the K-1 Visa interview (they had a list with our names and the other people going for the K-1). After about 5 minutes, we were called to the window to check all of our papers. First they wanted the passports for my fiance and her daughter..then they asked us for the filled out DS-156 forms...2 copies for my fiance and 2 for her daughter..then they wanted the form DS-230..1 copy for each. Then...they asked for the registros for my fiance (Single Certificate...Note from the Police, and of course the Birth Certificate). We had all those translated as requested in the paper we received from the Embassy. They then asked for the pictures (needed 4 of them for both my fiance and her daughter). Finally, they asked for the Medical packet. They opened that up and put everything together. During this process they asked a few questions..like how did we meet, and how long we knew each other. The lady also asked my fiance to write down my full name on some of the papers. This was kind of a 'test' I think..because if she had needed to ask me what my name was or how to spell it, that probably would not have been a good thing! Anyway, after getting all the papers together and signing what we needed to sign, the focus then turned to me - the sponsor. They asked for the financial information (Form I-134) and supporting documents. I provided all my W-2s for the last 2 years...plus all my tax return information from the last 2 years, plus this year which I had filed just before coming here. After all the paperwork was in order, they asked us to sit down and wait to be called by the consulate officer. We waited probably about 1.5 to 2 hours and they called us up. The guy asked us a few questions (how did you meet, how long we knew each other, how many times I came to visit). Then, he said everything looked good...At this time, I expected him to ask to see the mountain of proof of ongoing relationship, but he did not. I was glad I had the details though, in case they did ask. About 2 minutes later, he kept saying...looks good, everything verde (green)..and then he said..come back Friday for your VISA!!!! We said.."That's it?"..he said yes..then he asked the daughter..."Are you excited to go?" and "Where you go?"..and the daugther stated..Si!!! and HOUSTON!!. The officer said good luck and see you Friday!

Overall..very easy process..no issues.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
