Consulate Review: Ukraine
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 26, 2021
Embassy Review : Entire interview lasted all of 30 minutes from entering the visitor center to exiting. Entire consulate center was nearly empty due to COVID. Before the interview, there was a place to disinfect your hands. FSO was very amicable, spoke both Ukrainian and English, laughed at any jokes, and enjoyed our story. The FSO kept the medical, the police report, our passports, photographs, and the Affidavit of Support and tax returns.

Protip: crop your photos before going to the interview and write your names on the back of them (as per the instructions) to earn bonus points with the FSO. Apparently, very few people actually do it and then have to take up interview time cropping it before submitting them to the FSO.

Questions asked:
Names
Sponsor name
When we met
Where does sponsor live
Where was the first meeting
When was the last time we saw each other
Was sponsor married, has children

Were you abroad for a period of longer than 6 months
Were you married before
Do you have any other children
Were you ever in USA?
Do you have relatives in USA?
How often was sponsor in Ukraine during our meetings and prior to us meeting?
Does he have relatives in Ukraine?

Child was asked:
What do you think of sponsor?
Do you like sponsor?
Do you want to go to America?
Rating : Very Good

Hi, at what time in the day did you check and see the open time slots for the interview? I'm wondering if we need to look at a certain time. Thank you, Serge
Uapilot on 2021-03-15 said:
I started checking around 5am and continued until about 8am. I then checked around 11:45am, an that was when I saw three appointment slots for Mar. 26th only, and nothing else through the end of May.

Thank you for your response. Did you go to the appointment page or just looked on the main page once you login? I'm trying to figure out how many times I can check before it locks me out
Uapilot on 2021-03-15 said:
I went to the appointment page (the one after the MRV fee page). I think it likely never locks you out. But today, I was checking about 2x per hour and didn't receive the "approaching max" message. Btw, all those times I mentioned above are Ukraine time.

Okay thank you, we will try the same thing then. Thank you for the clarification. Hopefully we'll be able to schedule soon as well

Hi! Hope you are ok. Quick question: when did you get the notification with the AOS interview date? Thanks!
Uapilot on 2021-11-08 said:
October 15th.

Hey there, Congrats, it seems like your process is definitely moving forward // I'd liek to ask, did you expedite your EAD or not at all? Thank you, Di
Uapilot on 2022-01-11 said:
Hi Di, I did not. I should also mention that it lists that my EAD was approved, but I meant that to specify that we just got the work benefits from the Green Card, not that our EAD application was approved; the Green Card was approved first.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
