Comments : Spent more than an hour in the Immigration office where IOs dealt with 5-6 entrants back and forth, delaying the process of having other entrants be cleared. It was frustrating, especially to first-time US entrants travelling alone, like me.

Missed my flight to San Diego because of this. Informing the IO about a scheduled flight wouldn't affect how they go about their processes (one Chinese kid told an IO that he has a flight leaving soon but IO said, in a condescending tone, "Well then, you'll miss your flight. I'll get to you when I get to you.").

Missed flights can be rescheduled just as long as the airline is informed that the delay was caused by being held up in the CBP. Not everyone travelling to the US the first time knows about this fact so imagine how these people would feel when placed in such a situation.

Consulate Review: Tokyo, Japan
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 15, 2019
Embassy Review : From security check to hearing the consular officer say "Congratulations, your visa is approved." spanned almost two hours. Got in at 8:10, got out at 10:08.
The interview was direct to the point, no fuss, and was done professionally. She asked just three questions and spent most of the time reading and going through all our documents. Judging from just the three questions she asked, all that she needed to make a decision were clearly and easily found in our documents. Doing all the paperwork right goes a really long way.

The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo had a very friendly, efficient, and accommodating staff. Hats off to everyone working there. Overall a pleasant experience.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
