Whatever you do, do NOT enter the United States at the Manitoba border by Walhalla, North Dakota. I had called that exact border crossing the week before to make sure I can cross there with a K1 packet and was told that I absolutely would be able to do that. However, the women working that day were in such a bad mood and were mad that we came through on their shift because they did not know how to process the K1 packet that I handed them. Because I was worried about them messing it up, I asked if I may enter at a different border crossing, but they refused to let me leave. We were bombarded with questions by the officers, but it felt like an interrogation. One officer kept coming back saying that I was missing papers from the packet I handed them. It was a sealed packet from the embassy. I did not open it to remove anything. I did everything by the book and I felt, after waiting so long to be with my fiance, that they were going to screw it all up. Every now and then they came out to angrily ask us questions as well as repeatedly asking for other documentation. I was adamant that I didn't receive anything else to give them other than what was in the sealed packet. I was so sick to my stomach from worry. After three hours, they finally let us through. It left me sick with stress for the rest of the day. We were finally through, but I couldn't relax. It was too much. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
